View Full Version : Sway Bar End Links

Smurfkiller

I am currently in the process of making and selling sway bar end links for all models of the Mazda Protege. (yippy) These ends links are made from zinc plated steel ball end links with locking threaded rod in between, to ensure full adjustability. I will honor all end links sold with a 1 year full replacement warranty if they happen to fail. These will be sold for $30 a pair, front or rear. Save $10 and buy front and rear for $50. (shocked) Price does not include shipping and handling, which should be between $5-7. Reply for more info. Thank You and have a Happy Thanksgiving!!!! (mspblack)

Are you an authorized vendor?? You might want to get that taken care of.

11-25-2004, 12:26 AM
^^ Agreed. But once that is done, this sounds like a good deal. I just bought myself some AWR rears and am very pleased, but the price is more that twice the price of these.

These can be put together at Home Depot. I don't think the AWR ones are that low of quality.

Yeah the AWR ones are definately a better product. But you get what you pay for.

Smurfkiller

The AWR and mine use the same ball end links, except mine have female thread instead of male thread. The ball end links are made from the same manufacturer. I can replace the center section of threaded rod with a smoother piece of steel with threaded ends. The fact is, no offense to AWR and all their great products, but the ones they have are too damn expensive. Mine are the same quality for a 1/4 of the price! Plus 1 yr. guarantee!

Smurfkiller
11-25-2004, 11:37 AM
And NO- you can not get ball end links at home depot, I looked at every home depot, sears, and ace hardware in the Chicagoland area and no one has them. The on the street value for ball end links is $15-20 each from specialty suspension shops. Also, I am not an authorized vendor for the marketplace, I was told to post this on the For Sale forum board, which I did.

You cant beat the price and again.... 1 year warranty. I have had them on my protege for 1 year and I can feel the difference in handling. The stock end links are made of plastic and have too much play. They are also $37 each and are necessary to replace when you upgrade in sway bars.

garretts77
11-25-2004, 07:02 PM
I didn't mean to offend you or anything. I agree that these are 1000 times better that my stocks. I was flexing them with the upgraded sway bar. I was trying to give you a bump for a good looking product at a good looking price. Again, about half the price of AWR's. The AWR shaft seems to be a higher quality than the threaded rod, but in reality it doesn't matter. I was looking into trying to source the materials needed to make something almost identical. Not to say that they are better or worse, simply that competition is a good thing. Good luck...

No offense taken. I am just trying to bring something to everyone that wont break the bank. I mean who wants to pay a $120 for a PAIR!!! Rediculous. I will soon offer these with smooth center shafts as they come available to me. Maybe a slight bump in price but I will still stand to my word that these are the same if not better quality than AWR offers.(no offense to them, I have many of their parts which I would recommend to anyone)

garretts77
11-26-2004, 02:54 AM
Well, to be fair, the price for AWR endlinks are $65/pair, not each...

122 Vega
11-26-2004, 02:55 AM
And they are billet aluminum, not cast steel all-thread, which IS AVAILABLE AT HOME DEPOT.

Dimitrios
11-26-2004, 12:47 PM
If you want higher quality materials (or at least options), you need to go through vendors like Mcmaster Carr or Granger or even Fastenal. Home Depot is for consumers (thus the "Home" part....). You'll end up with options for much higher tensile strength options.

Smurfkiller, where in Chicago are you from?

Sorry for the wait guys!! I have been so busy with work, and I just ordered enough supplies for 150 sets of end links!!! (cool)
I have upgraded the product from 5/16 to 3/8. The center section is now a smooth aluminum shaft with threaded ends. End links come with all necessary hardware. Prices have slightly changed due to the upgrade in size and shaft. Front links will now be $36 and the rears will be $34. Shipping not included, most places in the U.S. is about $7-10. Buy both sets for $60 and ssave $10!! (shocked) 1 year guarantee!! (yippy) (msporange

Sorry for the delay of things. I am in the process of moving and putting 60 hrs. a week towards work. I am unaware of any past dealings people have had on this forum. I will post pictures of the product I have available after I get set up in my new place. The good news is that I will recieve AMM status from Antoine as soon as I send him the monthly fee. I appreciate everyone patience.

is that just off the awr website?? also these will just replace the msp stock endlinks?

garretts77
01-27-2005, 03:13 PM
You can order them from the website. Tony is very helpful. I ordered my sway bar brackets directly from him.

There are also forum members that you can order through. I ordered the endlinks from Chris at SPD racing (fcs3 boy). I think that he ended up having them drop shipped directly from AWR anyways, but I wanted to help out a fellow forum member...

Anyways, yes, they should be a direct replacement for the MSP endlinks. The major benefit is the adjustability feature. But since they are thicker than stock, they will not bend under stress like the stocks will. I don't know how much of an improvement you will see on the MSP. I needed them to increase the length so I could properly fit my MSP sway bar...

I have been really busy. I have recently moved and I had to go away to Ft. Lewis in Seattle, WA for a Army National Guard thing. I Just got my DSL up and running yesterday in my new place. I am so sorry to those that I have not replied to. I am going to send the money to Antoine this week end so I can attain my AMM status and I will be up and running. I will have a link to a E bay ad where you can do PayPal for the links, that way I don't have to figure out the shipping. Again, I apologize. Also, I have upgraded the end links from a 5/16 size I felt was close to stock. I have gone to a heavier duty end link with a 3/8 size, with stronger alum. alloy center rod. I have to tap the rod to the 3/8x24 thread size I picked, but it was well worth it. The difference is a tighter feel than stock. I do not have a upgraded sway bar, but it feels like it. I will have the option for those who choose to, have greasable end links. The ones I have, have a polymer barrier between the race and ball and dont require greasing. Anyway, I am rambling because I am excitied to have internet back. I will be back on again with the prices and info as well as any upgrades you will like. COMING SOON!!!!--- Engine Dampers!!! (cool)

Ya I might get a pair of front links myself. Had to dremel off the bastard nuts off my old ones (quite accurately i might add) but ended up having to repair the thread on the bolt and picked up some bigger stronger nuts at Ace.

but anyways....shoot a pic of those 100+ bolts you ordered over a month ago, we'd all love to see it!

Becuase he needs to be a authorized vendor.

At the very least he needs to be able to guage interest to see wether or not it's feasable for him to even become an AV/AMM. Who the hell goes to the chicago area forum?? Granted, this thread has probably already been seen by everyone, but we all thought he bailed too. Let's see what he's got. Smurf, get your shit together!

If these links work out for you, great! I am not trying to chase away another vendor. I would love for him to stick around and offer competitive pricing and additional products. I am commenting on the "mixed reviews" that you have heard. AWR is awesome customer service and a great quality product. I have never heard anybody mention otherwise. I highly reccomend AWR if these do not work out as planned...

It is like a shock absorber for your motor to cut back on engine lash.

NO it doesn't really replace anything. It is sort of a supplement to the motor mounts in that it relieves some of the stresses that would otherwise be sent to the Motor mounts. This is the theory anyways. I am curious to see what smurfkiller comes up with...

I am "Smurfkiller's" wife and would all like to apologize for the delay of parts you would all like to recieve. A short time ago, after his last response, he was sent to Irag with his National Guard unit. He will be ther for the next 11 months or so and send shis best wishes to all your Protege's and apologizes for any angry possible buyers. We do have a very close friend in Chicago who will be buying all the parts from us to sell, and will offer all the same deals. Sorry, please wish him luck and a safe return.

Hope your husband stays safe in Iraq. My best friend has been there for a total of 15 month. He recently signed up for special forces school, just so that he wouldn't have to be in Iraq any longer. He says its sad that life in intense special forces training is probably better than life in iraq.
