View Full Version : Problem with front right brakes
Just drove my car to class and noticed this weird sound coming from my right front brake. It only happends when I apply the brakes. Its deffinetly not squeaking the best I can describe the sound is like "psst pst psssst psst pst"
I thought maybe my brake line got cut or had a leak but i checked my fluid level and it was fine, also didnt see it leaking under the car.
Anyone know whats going on?

do you lose pressure when braking or feel the brake pedal pulsing?

Could be a wear indicator on your pads, a small metal piece that squeeks on the rotor when the pads get low.

how many miles you have on your car? i just got new pads and that was at 27,000 miles. i didn't hear any squeeking or any noises from the brakes at all and i had less than 10% left and they were working just fine. i thought it was weird that they didn't squeek but i would say go get it check out and make sure it's not one of those things that happens at certain times. cause the dealer or where ever u take it will tell u nothing is wrong and you will waste ur money and time.
I have 34k on my car. Im about 99% sure it isnt the pads cause it sounds nothing like a squeek. Its more of a hiss like i described. I kind of dont want to take it to the dealer since I have no cats on my car and dont know if they will bitch even though that has nothing to do with the brakes.
I just rechecked everything. I guess it must be the pad. Anyone have links to a nice set of pads?

My right front made the same noise before it turned into a horrible grinding - that was a stuck caliper which is now fixed.
Hope it's just your pads though...but aren't you glad for an excuse to upgrade stuff (laugh)

That was my thinking too.....upgrades are great. Just bought some Brembo drilled/slotted rotors and Hawk HPS pads. The Hawk pads seem good so far - I bought mine at TireRack.com
