Hey guys, long time no post. I feel a little bastardy by not having participated in a while and now coming for advice, but I have helped others in the past. Help a sorry son of a bitch with the worst luck on his car...the warranty just ran out (oct 26) and my dealer screwed me on a seized caliper that shoud have been fixed under warranty recently.
I looked around for TSB's concerning this but there weren't any.
EXACTLY what is described below is happening on my car as of this weekend, i'm in canada and the temp has started dropping recently (note however, it happens on accel and decel AND when turning steering wheel left and right, it's gotten louder since this weekend):

Here is video someone took of THEIR problem, the creaking / cracking noise not the other weird noise is what is happening on my car, it's really the same thing except it happens all the way from left full turn to right full turn:

What do you guys think? Anyone ever had this on their Protege?
THANKS GUYS!

I forgot to mention that when the car has sat still overnight or at work, it seems not to happen within the first 5-10 minutes of driving the car. Maybe a ball joint?
have you checked your power steering fluid? not sure thats what it is, but couldnt hurt to check.

That's a bent tie rod on the Honda. However I know Mazda suspensions are different, not sure if we have a tie rod. The sqeak is unlubricated suspension joints, lower popping creak is the bent tie rod.
Depending on your squeak, it could also be the P/S pump straining.

Mine creaks went its cold, but i all started when i installed my Eibach Pro-kit. I've been under it like 4 times trying to figure out exactly what it is.

Hey guys,
Thanks for all the feedback, sorry I didn't post but I brought it into a shop I trust. We were able to isolate it down to the links. The joints on the links are getting loose and crappy. So I'm having the noisy ones swapped out.
Hope this helps someone in the future.
Thanks again guys...

Just do what i'm going....wait till it breaks then you know. I figure if i cant find it its not that big of a deal....unless my wheel falls off and I roll.

That's exactly it, I don't want to have to take it easy, I love driving this car but driving it on egg shells isn't really any fun. I'm worried that it would happen when I'm pushing the car a little bit and end up costing me more than I would pay now.

I know what you mean....Put it up on jackstands with someone in the car. Get under it and have them turn the wheels and try to find where the sound is coming from. Or even better if you have a lift you can just do it that way, but most people dont have access to one. Luckily I work in a shop.

I am having a similar problem that started a couple days ago. I live in Dallas and we have been receiving way above average rain for this time of year. (thought that I would add that just in case it may have an affect)
When I am either stopped or moving, when I turn the wheen either right or left I hear a creaking noise coming from the dash. The power steering fluid is normal.
I don't know if you have ever heard the "wheeee" sound that the car makes when it is turning-that is normal. But, mine has gotten louder.
Did you ever find out what happened to yours?
