99-00 same exhaust system as 01+?

I was wondering if the 99-00 exhaust system was the same as the ones found in the 01+.

Would aftermarket exhausts designed for the 2.0L fit the 1.8L found in 99-00s?

On the Vibrant Performance site it says that the Streetpower Axle-back exhaust for the protege is for the 2.0L only. does that make any sense?

it will hang on the same hangers, but i dont think it will bolt up to the down pipe
