I am stuck i can't get the front axle bolt off. Does it go clockwise or counterclockwise. Also, can I just take a hammer and pound on the tie rod to get that loose. I need to replace the wheel bearing and oil seal on drivers side and these 2 things are stopping me from getting the spindel off.

To remove the locknut, you will have to knock the crimped portion of the locknut out using a small chisel and hammer. Then you will need a friend in the car to mash on the brakes while you remove the nut (counter-clockwise to loosen).

You will need a pickle fork to separate the tie rod. Banging on it will damage the threads as well as the tie rod.

Well I ended up going to Just Brakes. They replaced both sides. The driver's and passenger sides. they did it for $250= tax. i also have a 50,000 mile warranty on the parts and labor. I made out like a bandit. the dealership wanted to charge me $465 just to do one side. the side that was bad the drivers side. I saw the bearing after they pulled it out. The guy said it feel apart when it popped out. there was a ring with like 16 balls and 6 of the were missing. It was crazy to see that all the weight of the car is mounted on plastic and balls sound like the engineers at Mazda may have visited a few adult shops in there time. (silly) ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
