Hey,

Do you guys find the seats a bit too low and uncomfortable? Is there anything that can be done?

During long rides (4-5 hours) I am numb. I've tried so many positions but still can't find a good one.

Ya I have problems with long trips but short trips (20-30mins) there fine. I do want soe replacements but id probably end up getting just one for the driver.

I find the driving position high rather than low :P

with the angle of the seat adjusted its great

sucks for the passengers on long trips though. my legs kept falling asleep while riding shotgun

I love the drivers seat in my P5.. on a 4 hour trip to Austin I was pretty comfortable (some stiffness from driving that much is expected).

02 p5I owned a Honda Prelude before my P5 and the first thing that came to my mind after sitting in the P5 was that the seats were too high. I definitely agree with you the protege seats have the worst comfort. Now my back is used to it but when the car was new it took couple of months for the pain to go away. You'll know comfort when you sit in Prelude, or Honda, stock seats. The only thing that could be done is swap them for something else. I put leather with extra padding underneath on my seats and felt a tad of a difference.

I notice the numbing feeling. Unfortunatly i drive a lot of 2-3+ hr trips. Its bad when your foot falls asleep when you are flying 90 down the interstate

i have yet to embark on a long (3+ hour) trip...but the seats seem comfy enough. They don't really hold you very well. I want to get some more supportive seats, but don't want to go overboard on a full blown racing seat...any suggestions?

i think my seats in my Protege 5 are great (leather). I had a sedan before the 5 and thought the seats were good there, too. I have taken many long trips and hae never had any trouble. I believe they are a little high, but that is not a problem......

our seats are slightly high but it gives a good perspective of the road(one reason i got the car). the are fine for everyday confort but on long trips(i took a straight 12 hour trip to georgia) the confort suffers. as to those who like honda seats....i had an 89 acura integra and those seats were nothing to brag about. i kept getting a stiff neck and my lower back suffered in that car.

i think they are mounted a bit high too. ...but ill have replacements for them soon. . .hopefully my brackets don't make everthing higher or ill be pissed. . lol

but on a serious note i drove up to NY from FL and the ride really wasnt that bad. . .i had to adjust my seat every once in a while to relax my knee (i can't sit anywhere for more than a couple of hours after ACL reconstruction) but other than that i thought they were fine for the ride

Same here. I had a '93 Si and the Prelude seats get a little tight after a few hours. (drove mine from Oakland to Dallas in 2 days). The prelude seats are great at holding you in place when cornering though. Personally, the first few days in my P5, I fealt like I was driving a SUV lol. I haven't spent more than 2 hours in the P5 seat at a time, but they are more comfortable than the leather executive chair I'm sitting in now.

I guess it really depends on what your're used to. I used to drive a '97 Subaru Legacy GT with the simulated leather interior and the p5 seats feel sooooo comfortable compared to those.

I have a P5 and a 99 civic ex. The seats in the P5 hold on to you better but are not as comfortable or as low as my civic seats. Now if you could cross the comfort of a caddy and the holding power of a recaro......man that would be a seat!

I have a Prelude on Eibach Pro-Kit springs, so the seats in my P5 feel very high. I find them to be very comfortable. Not quite as supportive as the Prelude seats, but good nonetheless.

If you try the civic seats, you'll be glad that you have the P5 seats.... I'm looking for stock P5 driver seat for my civic, if anyone wanna sell it, plz let me know. Thanks:)

The seats are ok, but lack good lumbar support. My back is killing me after my commute. My commute is 1.5 hours and my trips are usually 5-9 hours. I'm thinking about putting an air bladder from a mustang seat in my drivers seat to give some lumbar support. I'd like to get some nice aftermarkets, but they cost soo much. I was also considering RX-8 seats.

I've driven straight through to IL from Charleston before w/no complaints.

BTW, I'm 5'7" and have the seat cranked all the way up...perfect!

I"ve never had a problem with them. The only gripe I have is that there's no lateral support.

That, and the damn pattern...

i agree lateral support is lacking. can't wait til i have the money for a racing seat. at least in the p5 i don't have to put the seat all the way back like in my integra to fit. with that car i was able to drive w/ no probs w/ my knees. i got good at taking turns.

I second that! They shoulda put pseudo-suede on the bolsters so you don't slide all over. I have the leather seats and am glad it came with them -- I think the cloth pattern is ugly.

Overall, seat comfort is pretty good - I took a 3.5 hour trip to Pittsburgh this summer and I was fine once I settled in. Didn't need to adjust the seat once.

I'm really happy w/ my stock leather seats as far as comfort and looks are concerned. My only problem is that I have to push myself into the seat during auto-x races to prevent myself from slipping around.

Had the same problem. Then I bought a CG lock. Works great.

All I would want is bigger side bolsters. And if you dont like P5 seats, try sitting in a Saturn SC2. Those are shitty seats!

I've taken many 12+ hour trips in the 5 and have had no problems. I also worked as a Pizza guy, sitting in the seat for 8 hours a day and have felt nothing but comfort. If you think the P5 seats are high, test drive a Matrix. now that 's a mini-van.

Semi O/T: Every time I squirm in my seat, the headrest pops up a notch or too (I prefer it down low). I think increased pressure on the back of the seat pushes it up...

Anybody know of a fix for this?

the matrix is just funky. driving postion and feel stinks. steering wheel reminded me of the 28ft box truck i drove....hand over hand baby.

i find the bottom of the seat to be too short and it lacks back support. i always feel like i'm not sitting straight. i'd switch them in a second, but i've got the side airbags and don't want to give those up.

How many people have over 55K on thier seats? Mine do, and I'm sitting in them for 4hrs a day. They are worn out. The leather is fine, looks brand new still. But the support foam has been compressed, and the lumbar support is gone.

I have to agree with the comments about the civic seats, they are rough. Though they still have plenty (if not too much) lumbar support-even at 130K . I think the best stock seats I've had were early 90's mustang GT seats. I fit perfect and they had great support.

i'm at about 52k and they're getting pretty worn. i'm a light guy so that probably slows the wear down slightly.

I'm 5'11 and 185. Not that big of a guy, not small either.

How bad is your indent on the armrest? Mine is pretty bad, my pedals are worn almost out the point of replacement, and the floormat has a hole in it!

He probably means the cover to the center console. My wife uses it as an armrest and gets in the way when I shift. (drive)

I noticed this the day I drove mine home from the dealer! I prefer it low too, as it obstructs the view over the shoulder when it is high up. I'm really tempted to buy new driver's seat, but until i have the money for it, I too would like to know of a fix for this.
