So I upgraded my sub and over the past months I have noticed an incrreasingly annoyying rear deck rattle. I poked around and found that the covers for the child seat anchors were rattling. I fixed that with some foam. But there is another place the rattle is coming from. The cover for, I guess, where the center brake light would go. The MSP does not have one so this is just a plastic cover.

Before I start tearing the car apart I wanted to know if anyone here knew the best way to get it off so I can squelch the rattle coming from it.

I am guessing from the attached thread that I need to remove the entire rear deck to get the brake light hole cover off. Is this correct or will it pop off from the top side?

Well I figured it out and thought I would post the answer to my own question for people searching in the future.

The Light hole cover on the rear deck can be removed by gently prying up the side that is closest to the rear seat and furthest from the window. It has little clips in the front and hangers in the back. DO NOT pull on the back side as you will break the hangers. Just pry up the front side and then slide if toward the front of the car gently after the clips have popped loose. To put it back you just reverse the procedure. I had to whack on it with my fist pretty hard to get mine to clip back in, of course I had weatherstripping in there.

BTW: I just bout some 1/8 inch thing weather stripping from home depot. They sell it in a roll for like $5 and made a template of the bottom of the light cover with paper and then used a razor blade and the template to cut a thin correct shaped piece of the weather stripping and stuck it on the bottom side of the light hole cover. This eliminated the rattle awesomely.
