i dont' really have many mods on my car:
1) injen cai
2) hks tt
3) apex'i boost gauge
after i installed the boost gauge, i noticed that instead of boosting 6.5 psi, i boost around 8.7 psi. lately it's been pushing even higher to around 9 psi (i'm estimating since my gauge is in bar)
i was wondering what would cause my car to boost so high.. it's also noticeably faster than other stock msp's, and msp's with cai and suspension. i've ran against a couple of them and my car generally pulls from then in 2nd and 3rd, and by the end it's about 1+ carlengths ahead.
i've read that it could be that the wastegate isn't opening at the correct boost level, but if that's the case, how do i adjust it so it opens at 6.5? i mean, i do like the extra power i'm getting, and my bpv sounds nuts (really high pitched and loud) but i just don't want my engine to blow or anything due to boosting too much.
i'd appreciate any response, thanks :)

maybe you have one of the freak msp's that boost high stock and the cold weather may be raising it.
Other than that i really don't know.
Wastegate stuck maybe?

Just to be safe, you should have your wastegate checked. You don't want it to spike to 15psi. or more while driving unexpectedly.

I wouldn't worry about it dude. My car screams like those bottle rockets. It's always done this and boosts around 7.5 normally, but spikes a lil over 8 occasionally. I have no mods thus far. I guess I got lucky too. (rockon) (rockon)

mine started doing this recently, stock was at 6.5 psi and then a month ago my gauge is reading 10psi stock. took it to the dealer and they seem to think my gauge is wrong. I really doubt it., the car feels faster. and then this morning coolest morning yet in houston I think I hit fuel cut, I didn't get any check engine light though. it felt like fuel cut. my gauge was reading 12-13 psi this morning when flooring the car and hitting something that stopped the car and i had to let off to go again. I am pretty sure my wastegate is not operating correctly.
Should I be able to move the acuator rod with my hand? I was thinking I should try to move the rod to see if it is stuck in position or not.

It shouldn't be that easy to move. Let me show you guys what happens with a boost spike, that is, if you are lucky the rod doesn't come out the side of the block.

Last summer when I first tested the boost, I was at 5-5.5 psi stock. Last week when I put everything back to stock, I checked 7-7.5 psi! My guess is that's the weather (air temp and humidity)

Check for leaks on the crappy factory hoses.
