if i install an o2 bung on my catless corksport exhaust, and still have no cat, but have an o2 sensor, is that a bad idea? (f'ed up sentence, i know) would my car screw up the a/f ratio cuz there's no cats and the o2 sensor's still in there?

The rear o2 sensor doesn't affect the A/F ratio, it's only the front one.
The rear one only tells the PCM that the cat is working or not.

nate: yes, i've read that, but i dont want to hack off an expensive part like an o2 sensor. especially since i'm going to have to switch in my stock exhaust for emissions testing.
so if i dont have a cat, but have an o2 sensor bung, it'll tell my pcm my cat isnt working? will that screw stuff up?

in that case, you may be a candidate for the spark plug fouler MIL eliminator method, more easily reversible...

I don't know if it's different where you are.. but here in Ohio cars produced after 1997 don't do the probe in the exhaust thing, so you shouldn't need to swap exhausts. They just check your Diagnostic port for a CEL, which the Spark Plug Anti-Fouler should get rid of.

oh i'm planning on moving to california, i hear they're pretty tough on emissions. :p

use the non fouler method and you will be able to return to stock upon emission testing. no cutting required with the non foulers.
