I noticed i used to have this high pitched whine or whistle everyone describes. I got MAMotorsports midpipe, and now all i hear is spool. My car has had this for 2 weeks now and i have had no whine what so ever. I'm guessing that the whistle everyone hears and i've heard on other MSP's is from the restrictive exhaust. Has anyone else noticed the same after midpipe or exhaust upgrades?
I was worried i had shit my wastegate from running 14psi a while back for about 2 months. But the car sounds exactly how a turbo should now. No problems what so ever. The car runs smoother than ever with the mods i have now. My turbo seems very happy.

I think the whine from 4-5K is from restriction directly downstream forcing too much backpressure on the wastegate. Seems so, as once you guys put the DP on it goes away.

well my system is not completely turbo back, its from the "J" pipe back I guess, but I have the J pipe, so its a downpipe....damn im confused, there is a small section coming directly off the turbo that is still stock, the rest is done. So i have whatever that means lol DP JP whatever, the whine is still gone :'(

yeah it's from the restrictive exhaust, i noticed it came back after i took my 3" dp off.

I wish mine would go away. Plus mine just started making a whole new noise. Needless to say, it's at the dealership now.

That's odd, because part of the noise the turbo makes after the initial spool at higher rpms is because of the ball bearings. My friend with a 1G DSM also has a ball bearing turbo with 3" TB exhaust and you can hear it. Needless to say his T3/T4 turbo is louder than my GT25R, but still, ball bearing turbos have different sounds.

Someone described the sound as a bottle rocket. That's the best description I've heard yet.

i still think our wastegate sucks ass. I get a spike to 10 that settles back down to around 8 or 7.5, its starting to worry me. Thats the whole reason i don't run my boost controller anymore without race fuel.
