And it only exists on late 04 models and later. (That are ATX)
yep what he is saying is 04 and up has it on full time vs 03 where we just see it when we slap over to M mode.

Why nothing for mtx? It'd be useful right?
you should remember what gear you shifted too whereas when in auto mode it shifts so fast to od before 45 mph you don't know what gear it's in now. it's there cause you tap up and down and also it flashes if it won't let you downshift so you know it didn't downshift.I beleve it would be helpfull for automode so you can learn the exact shiftpoints for friendly drive if you just like man mode.

Generally if you know how to drive MTX, you know what gear your in. Either by speed/rpm, or by merely touching the stick nob.

and its not like counting to five is hard.
digital has saved me alot cause sometimes I have to downshift from 4 to 2 cause the lane I'm in just dropped down to 40 and the lane next to it is like 65 70. if it down shifted to 3 (goes from 4 to 3 and then flashes 3 meaning no downshift till you lower rpms)and stuck at 3 then I don't have the power or abaility to get up to speed of the other lanes traffic 4cyl :( If you have these moments often invest in tranny cooler as well cause it's well worth it!

I kinda wish that even on the MTX it would tell you what gear you're in. On the ATX, it tells you whether you're in PRND, so on the MTX it should tell you as well. The dash just looks kinda empty in those spots where the ATX gear indicators would normally be.

I kinda wish that even on the MTX it would tell you what gear you're in. Just launch from 4th every time. You'll always know what gear your in, and can reach 126 in that gear if you bounce of redline. Why bother shifting? http://www.afterglow.nu/alright.gif

"Now approaching twentyeight miles per hour"
"Now approaching thirtyfive miles per hour.. understeer imminent"
"Now approaching forty miles per hour.... you've got mad trunkspace yo"

In all honesty, I'm not sure if the ECU even knows what gear the MTX is in. I've heard rumors of 6s that can beat the 120mph limiter by staying in 4th gear. However, I've yet to see this in person. I've personally gone over 120 in 4th, but only by a mph or two (on the road courses).
Assuming that the ECU does know what gear you're in, then you may be able to fabricate something. The time, effort, and expense though may be more than you want to bother with.

yea i realize it's kinda pointless, but it would be cool to mod that current gear into the display. If the ECU doesn't even know what gear the MTX is in, it would be really difficult and not worth doing. I'm a recent stickshift convert and I'm still very much in the learning process, so that's why I asked in the first place.

Makes sense. In all honestly, after a few months you're going to know exactly what gear your in just by the torque and the noise. Take my word for it:)

You've been spoiled by GranTurismo3 where they always show the gear regardless of transmission!!!
i'd rather have that little indicator that tells you what gear to be in for a corner for my dash....

I'm missing whatever that is. He left the shutter open for a second and revved?

i thought it was a mod, like as it... it highlights the rpm area of each gear or something...
just seems cool? (braindead
nope the needle is mooving faster than the shutter speed? or however thy wanna put it...basicly reving while taking pict. If you seen the SRT-4"s...thats hot! Similar to that picture but at and after redline. There is an led making that "slice of pie" Not shure how chrysler plased it in the cluster but since our faces are black vs their white would be extremely dificult to duplicate. I like your el glow gauges over myne anyday :)
but yeah fugi hit it on the head every game shows your gear and all 04 ATX clusters *kisks side of desk* shows gear all the time.

Porches have similiar technology. The tach will show you where your rpms will go when you shift.
now that i didn't know...

i'm pretty sure my brother's '03 MZ6i shows the gear#, it drops to 1st when he stops
did he have his cluster replaced? 03 can show it all the time if you *aquire* an 04 cluster and threw it in. some had it done by dealership cause of falty gas needles or other non massive issues that turned up resulting in gauge replacement.

Yeah but that's the ATX and not the MTX.
