hey guys,
do you think relocating the cat farther away from the downpipe (in my system the cat is in the location of the stock cat) to farther down into the middle of the system to help out with the flow a bit? Im not sure if it would be worth it, but I think that having a bottleneck so close to the turbo could be robbing me a little hp. If i do change it can I move the o2 sensor down also or do i have to leave it in the stock area?
Thanks, Jeff

its still going to be a bottleneck no matter where you put it.

If you move the cat, it will likely not get up to operating temperature and you will have running problems. Studies continue to show that good flowing cats do not decrease hp and some actually can help to increase torque.

by giving me more backpressure I make more power?...sounds a little too good to be true.

^^^ It is the truth but I do not know about it being so true for boosted applications.

i figured the less back pressure near the turbo the better, but that operating temperature deal has got me thinking, aybe i should just make a testpipe for the weekends..

The test pipe is a good idea, however, mine went into limp mode rather quickley without a cat or a CEL eliminator.

I have thought about relocating the cat and o2 sensors about 6 inches further away from the turbo still on the midpipe section. ( not very much room there) if this is even possible I am not sure. by making more space before the cats there would be enough room to weld in one of those electric cut outs before the cats and still get away with emissions. This would be my ideal setup. Of course a cel would still light up when in cut out mode so the need for a cel fix would still be needed. but really easy to change back to stock when needed for emissions.
