MSP Engine block serial numbers

If you were buying a MSP how would you tell if the original engine was in the car?
Does anyone know where to find the serial numbers on our original engine block? Will this number match the VIN in any way? Any #s on the head?

When I rebuilt mine there was a code stamped in it, but it definately didn't match the VIN at all, to my knowlege there aren't any numbers on the head at all. I do not know how to tell if it is orgional or not sorry.
