Air-to-water intercoolers

Has anyone ever toyed with the idea of an air-to-water intercooler, like the ones from Laminova? An air-water intercooler is more efficient than any FMIC/SMIC and it gives cool air EVEN at idle, which would solve the CAI thing and make the air path VERY short...
