Has anyone here installed the AEM CAI? What are your impressions and do you happen to have an audio/video clip (or pics)? Thanks.

Sounds awesome to me. I will try and get an audio Clip for you. I have it installed with Turbo Hoses Hard Pipes. I will take a pic when I get home.

Generally sounds good. Makes the turbo very audible. Mine made some funny noises from air moving through the thing under low boost levels, but not too bad. Drivability and idle quality are like stock.

Here's a pic:

rocketspeed, thanks for the pic. Is it still making those noises?
HazeXban, I would really appreciate the audio clip. Do you experience the same noises that rocketspeed experienced?
Also, where did you guys buy yours? The price has seem to gone up since I last checked a couple months ago (it's now close to $400!)

Still made the sounds when I took it off the car, its only partial throttle under light boost- sounds like air blowing thru in a weird way or turbulence or something. Not real loud.

Mine's off the car in favor of the Perrin SRI. I'll sell it to you if you want. Its red.

Sort of. It sounds like resonance in the intake pipe. Like you were trying to use it as a horn or something- blowing air thru. Others have made the same comment.

HazeXban, whenever you get the chance to is fine. No rush, and thanks. rocketspeed, thanks for the sale offer and the info but I wont be buying the CAI (new or used) for a while. And when I do it's more than likely going to be new - just a thing with me. No offense meant. Thanks a lot though.

I'd like to hear a sound clip also. I've heard the Injen and found it had a bit too much turkey to my liking. I would like to see the difference.

What online store are you getting ripped off at? www.apexr1.com (http://www.apexr1.com) has it for $249 shipped, of the Injen for $245 shipped. I prefer the Injen, because it has a pipe for the BPV, not a bunch of tubes that relocate it.

The pic also looks like the first pipe coming off the turbo is going to pop off the MAF. AEM comes in pretty colors, but I just prefer Injen for the stated reasons, NOT discrediting the AEM system in any way because AEM has a reputation of building excellent air intake systems. (I had to throw that last part in because I almost got into a flame war over FMICs when I was complimenting both of them)

That thing was clamped on tight, wasn't coming off. At least it didn't for the 15k miles it was on there like that. I needed to set it up that way to get enough clearance from the fan shroud.
