Any response is better than the one you gave above...I hope I don't ever see a response like that again...

What do you mean by gut everything out?

I hope you are not looking at the short rams on ebay cause I heard those suck real bad for the 2nd Gens (96-98).

The exhaust manifold from ebay is good though I replaced my stock with one. They claim to reinforce the area that is prone to cracking (piping from 2,3 cyl). I had a crack developing in my stock manifold.

it's a 1.5l lx...inline 4...dohc...does it really matter that much?... mean it's only a manifold and a short ram

In the US (someone can correct me if I'm wrong)

DX, LX = 1.5L Z5 Engine
ES = 1.8L BP Engine

As for gutting out the engine. Are you making the protege a racing only car? It'll be error codes galore. Make sure to post pics and stuff if you do though.

Check out clubprotege.com and do a search. I thought I read about someone's bad experience with ebay intakes for our car. Might be totally off though.

Either way I'd be really be cautious about getting one of those cheap ebay intakes. Do some research before buying it?
