well just wanted to say that my tranny finally went, due to my stupidity of not paying attention to my rpms before shifting. but anyhow, it got towed to the dealership on thurs and will be done on tues! everything is gonna be free of charge btw. thank god for warranty.
...and on a side not, once i get my car back from the dealership, im gonna trade it in for a wrx. sorry im a traitor i know, but i always loved those wrx's, they have alotta potential

well im pretty embarrassed to tell you guys, but what the hell, it was my fault and no point in beating around the bush. I was at light gettin ready to race. and of course he revved his engine, so i revved mine, but right when i revved high so he could here the bov, the light turned green. so basically i dropped it to first at like 6000 rpms...ya i know im an idiot. im really a smart driver.

There's your problem right there, you should not be racing.

umm if you are breaking trannies on a msp, i don't think the wrx is a car for you...no offense of course

the only reason he's slower is because he's not stock.
These things are wicked fast if left stock.

Your not getting a WRX! lol
Drop the clutch in a wrx at 6grand and you'll snap that shit in half...

all im going to say is that an wrx is not an sti... just like a lancer is not an evo... Id look at what you got compared to what you want.

(scratch) how are stock stuff faster, not upgraded to hard pipes? Don't they leak, or expand?

the money you will spend replacing trannies in the wrx, you could of had an sti to begin with! =), to keep a wrx tranny intact you need to know how to drive it, and unfortunately dropping the clutch at almost redline like you did in the msp, will break shit. But if that's what you want, goodluck thats all i can say i guess....

mazdaspeedster- nope...stock is definetly faster....metal weighs too much.

Dropping the clutch on any tranny can't be good.
I'd keep my MSP though. At least he knows what happened (like he said, his own stupidity). But good luck when you get the WRX, they're nice cars for the money. At least you know now that 6k clutch drops = bad.

Sux0rz. Have fun with the wrx. One of my friends just got an 04, it's pretty nice. Definitely faster than a stock MSP no matter what people say (I've raced him from a roll many times and I'm a better driver, he pulls away every time.) Have fun with the new car.

My tranny died at 4000 rpm on the highway shifting to 5th, but its been noisy for a while, mine blew up since the fork got stuck..it could be that theres a defect in some of the trannys?....how many miles did u have on ur car when ur tranny blew? i got 43000 miles, just shy of 70,000 km when mine went. Rental cars are enjoyable...so is neutral slamming at 6000 rpm in my Honda sped protoge

Not a suprised that it blew..you can't drop at 6k in any car...I mean..a guy i know...dropped a clutch at 5k..in a wrx..to do a burnout..for his girl..and broke the axel.
They warrantied it..but still...was out of his car for about 2weeks.

well like i said, i would never drop it into gear above 3K rpms...just this one time i dont know what i was thinking, we were just revving engines at the light and right when i revved mine the light turned green, so out of pure reflex, i dropped it into 1st, and the rpms happend to be at 6k rpms due to my stupidity of revving my engine. my car only has about 18k miles on it. but its ok, trust me, i learned my lesson, and i cant wait to get my wrx, im gonna get a white or maroone one and put black or gunmetal rims on it. woohoo

when the bug eye WRXs were out i thought they were uglier then the old ones, now that the new ones are out i like the bugs better, specialy with the black housing headlights

So wait, did it die from dumping the clutch at 6k, or was it in neutral and you tried to put it into first gear at 6k and it died right there? Either way, have fun with the wrx.

well enjoy the WRX.. they are great cars.. just be careful with the tranny.... my friend has gone through 3 stock ones and hes only at 350 WHP he has the ability to bring it up way past 400 but hes waiting on a new dog box to arrive.
but he would tell you to keep the MSP... he wants to work on mine so bad... but he has to do the MR2 first hehe.
hes got a firend with a speed that is beating EVO's left and right. so it does have potential =)
but if you decide to go WRX.. good luck and enjoy it in good health =)

um..yeah...
You toasted the tranny.. So what? The real question is what are you going to do with your mods? sell them with the car? or offer them up to us like a ritz cracker to carp.
