I know im not much of a racer myself - just have this dipshit guy in our car club with an older pro running low 16's and id like to help clam his mouth up one day by handing him his ass - sounds like turbo it might be or some serious weight reduction!

Keep in mind Kurt that you have an MP3 and should be able to push low 16's as well....put on a couple performance mods and maybe a short shifter and you'll smoke him.

Stock mp3 should run 16.8. Magically, mine ran a 16.5 stock. With CAI, a 16.4...
If he's in low 16's, he probably will beat you unless you have some good mods.

Turbo and he's in the 16's still? I doubt it. If he has one he needs to do a little more work...

Save your money and get higher compression pistons in there.
If that's too high....
Weight reduction is key for starters. I/H/E just to let the engine breathe and then work from there. Short shifter will only help you a tiny bit, Rag the knob and shift and fast as you possibly can with a quick in/out of the clutch and keep the narrow pedal planted. You'll do fine.

I used to own a 94 Protege LX and i beat Civic EX's all the time, untill i modded tha sucka it became a N/A beast killer, taking out SI's and Integra's. If he has a intake and exhaust i still don't think you will beat him unless you add a few mods.;)

All I had was a CAI and Bosal FEDERAL Exhaust and I ran a 16.003. Oh yeah I also took out the sub, front, and rear seats. My other time was a 16.06. I didn't nail the launch and I think I took out a little too much air in my tires. Now that I have a few runs under my belt, Sparko wires, and short shifter, I think I'll be in the 15s. (Very high 15s!) ;) I paid $220 for the CAI and $350 for the exhaust. The other mods were free. It doesn't take much.
