Crap. I was going to sell my 03msp fogs and put grills in their place. I didn't realize the holes are completely different. I already removed my fogs, and I just received the grills today, special ordered from mazda. This sucks, I was trying to make a little money, since I figured I could sell my fogs for more than the cost of the grills, but now I have to put my fogs back on. And I don't think mazda is going to accept a return, since I had them special ordered. CRAP! I guess I'm just an idiot.(pissed)

do they not fit because of the lip or because they don't fit proteges in general?

Oh yeah, I also bought a porting kit for some intake manifold work I'm planning on doing. I only have a dremel which takes 1/8" bits, and my dumbass goes and buys a kit of all 1/4" bits. AAAAAH!

The lip, the sockets are completely differently shaped. I think they would fit a p5 or 03.5 msp.

they make the grills you are looking for.. except i dont think us US guys can get them.. I've been trying to find the easiest way to get them shipped here from canada, but its gonna be a huge hassle. Unless someone on here could find an easy way to help?
the part numbers are:
B32E 50 C11 cover R, Lamp
B32E 50 C21 cover L, lamp

these parts have to be ordered individually to get the right ones. The US dealers all seem to get this number when they put either of the those numbers in: 0000 86 C09
This number is wrong. It is the mazdaspeed 3.5 ones which are too small probably the ones you ordered. So I dunno, there are at least 3 guys that want to get ahold of these that I know of. So we should all work together to find these things.

FUCJKKKKJKLLJLKJ . Those are the numbers I gave them and they told me it would be cheaper to get them as the set. So I went ahead and ordered the WRONG set.

I got the info from this thread:
http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=81440&highlight=B32E

Dammit, ok, I am going to talk to them tomorrow about this. I'm pretty sure they are capable of ordering the part for me, they just tricked me into ordering the wrong one. I think the hard part will be convincing them that the computer is wrong in showing them as the same parts. I can already hear them "but the computer says..."

I might be able to get some extra sets and ship them to you guys, but I gotta be damn sure I'm not wasting anymore money first.

These are what they got me: 0000-86-C09
http://img47.exs.cx/img47/9084/gril.jpg
They are hella square shaped, and the holes in my bumper are hella circular.
So these ones I got are designed to only fit 03.5 MSP and not any other model? I gotta know what I'm talking about when I go see the dealer. Damn, I just remembered the parts dept. is closed on Sat and Sun. I have to wait till monday to sort this out then

FSDET
10-09-2004, 07:46 AM
yes the ones that u got will only fit the 03.5 lip.
p5, msp(03and 03.5) have the same bumper, the only diffrence is that the 03.5 has a lip that makes the holes smaller, so the p5 and the 03 fogs dont fit cuz there too big and the 03.5 grill wont fit the p5 and the 03 since its too small. but as it was mentioned earlier there are available grills for the p5 and 03 msp which can be ordered from canada

Familia323
10-09-2004, 11:07 AM
Yeah man if you really can get ahold of those bigger fogs(which are a solid closed piece by the way) then let me know cause you could have a lot of happy people sending you money. :) I told them about the two different kinds and like you mentioned they just said to me... "but the computer says there is only one kind" .. and I was like ... yeah.. nevermind.

Yeah, mazdastuff is my dealer, and I'm pretty sure they can order the parts if I just insist on the correct part number. If they will not ship it to you, I could order them for some people, and ship them to you myself. I don't see a reason for anyone to have to cross any borders. Unless there is something about mailing things to canada that I don't know. I'm trying to think of how I can prove to them that these parts are different. Maybe I'll print out the grills from that other thread.

i made my own pieces of black sheet plastic to fill in where my fogs went. also drilled the drivers side out to allow some airflow to the CAI.

wasnt too hard to custom cut and mount them.

Peepsalot: the only problem with mailing stuff from the US to Canada is that it has to go through customs and it takes forever, but honestly I don't care how long it takes anymore. I just want to get these parts!

I went to the dealership yesterday to ask about those grills and they guy at the parts department told me they changed the part #s to a different one and now both grills comes in the set. He said that the original part #'s I gave him used to sell for $50something a piece but the new # comes out to $30something.

they arent the same ones. If the number goes to 0000 86 C09 then they are the MSP3.5 ones.. and they are too small. As far as I know you HAVE to order them using both numbers. Im sure the part numbers changed over to one as soon as the 3.5 MSPs came out...

The OEM foglights, last time I checked, were over 100 bucks per lamp. And they dont come with the 80 something dollar harness or fog brackets that you will need.

Celleratorok, which ones fit the P5? btw, i want some.

If you are talking about the Foglight Covers then thse are the ones that fit, and are the ones that we are working on getting ahold of.

yeah i made the downforcers as well out of sheet aluminum.

ive attached a close up of the drivers side.

i have since drilled out the rest of the holes, but the pattern there is the spot where a hole exists in the bumper to allow the airflow.

Ok, sorry for the delay guys. I've been having trouble finding time to go to the dealership between work and sleeping. Anyways, I went to the dealer first thing this morning, and returned the incorrect fog covers I had bought. I told the woman about the other covers that I need, and showed her my car and why the other ones don't fit. She said she was going to call MAzda headquarters or something, and try to figure it out. I was supposed to hear from her today, but I never got a call. I will try to go again tomorrow to see what's up, or at least call her.

Also, I asked her if people could order straight from them and have them shipped and she said yes(even to canada). Once I get this sorted out, whoever is interested should just give them a call and order some for themselves. You should probably wait till I receive mine though to verify they know what they are doing ;)

She was the nicest person to deal with that I have encountered at that dealership(although that isn't saying much). I meant to get her name, but I forgot, I should have it tomorrow though. Then you guys can ask for her by name since she should know what's going on. (cool)

Allright, I found a way to get these. I found a number for a mazda dealer in Canada, Pacific Mazda, and talked to the parts department. The guy there send me a couple different pictures of the p5 bumper via fax, and he ordered me the right ones. What you need to ask for is for a 2002 p5, mps2 susp, part #B32E-50-C11 and #B32E-50-C21. It is important it is for the mps2 susp option. The parts guy was really helpful ,and he said it would take about a week for him to get them, and then they would be sent to me. The covers are about $60 for both. The # for the parts department is 250-385-5747. Hope this helps everyone.

What does "mps2 susp" stand for? The correct part numbers are not enough to get the right ones?

Thanks for looking into it Gaboost!

Sorry for the late response but I believe susp. stands for suspension. On the parts sheet it did not specify this though. I was sent two pictures, one that looked like the regular protege front bumper, same part #'s as the other one, but it was listed as sport susp.,or suspension. The second picture was of the p5 bumper, and listed as mps2 suspension. That is the one you want to order the covers from.
