Me.
I just all my door dings removed about a month ago, and was feeling pretty good about my car. This morning I backed out of my covered parking spot, and was in a bit of a hurry. I heard a loud scrape, and realized i had hit the post with my right front fender and bumper.
I got out to look and my fender is caved in and scratched up. Alot of the paint from the post is on my car, and vice versa. The front bumper on the right side is all scratched up, torn a bit, and is missing paint.
Thats what I get for being in a rush, and I still got to work late.
I will post pics later.

Don't even claim it in that case. Just pay it out of pocket. It will probably cost $520. :(

I got hit by someone in the company parking lot, and it didn't even dent the metal, just scraped the paint, and it was $1400 dollars. Trust me, use the the deductible...that's what it's there for.

That SUCKS!!! I feel for you! BTW I was at work (Mazda Dealer) looking through old Mazda FUEL magazines and saw the article about you and your Cali Mazda club!! The whole article seemed to be about you though! Mazda really likes you!

That sucks. I would tell you to lower your deductable to $100, wait a month, and then get it fixed. My buddy just got a new RB front end for his Miata using this very same method...

The blue tape was to protect the front bumper from rock chips at the track and on the long drive there. Not like it matters now..

Be happy it was a pole and not some kid's leg.
Every body shop charges different amounds for parts/labor. Whether or not she should use her deductable is not something to argue about. Also, there are other factors that come into play like whether or not insurance rates might go up if a claim is filed.
Personally, if it's under $1K, I would keep it off my insurance.... and my deductalble is $500 too.

Ouch...but it could be waaaaaaaay worse. I bet if you spend a good hour doing meticulous touch-up paint work it will be way less noticable. It doesn't look like it is dented much at all.

i've had a few hit and runs happen to my car recently, and I bought uninsured motorist coverage/hit and run coverage about a month ago and i'm going to wait a bit to report them, but all I have to do is pay the deductable and get things taken care of? can you really lower your deductable it to 100????

Insurance is a bitch. If you use it you get penalized. If you don't, the premium is just as much as a penalty because you get nothing back. If you can get that thing fixed without insurance involved do it. It will work out better in the long run.

been there(argh), feel for you spicy!!!
Aww c'mon, it'll rub right out!! ;)
Sorry to hear, but it looks like a decent body shop could do that pretty easily without replacing the fender if it's not too dented (can't really tell from the pic).
Good luck!
