Well, I know gauges can be off by a bit, but so far mine has been very accurate. Last night when I went to fill up, I turned off the car, but left the ignition in the "ACC" position so my son could listen to the radio. I filled the tank and started the car without thinking of killing the power first. Now the needle rests between 3/4 and full. I always let the pump click three times when filling up, so I know it's full.
It has always gone all the way up to F since I've owned it.
Any idea how to reset it, other than going to the dealer?

I have been driving for..... well a LONG TIME...and have owned quite a few cars/trucks/bikes.....with the DUMBY light that the guages have in them now....that is all that REALLY matters....the very first thing I did when I got my P5 was to fill it to the top....then drive it till the light came on and then directly into the nearest gas station. marked the milage, and how much I put in the car....figured out my milage....and then the difference of how much I just filled the car up with and how much the tank holds....
now I just fill it up and if the light comes on...I know how many gallons I have left and about how many miles that is good for.

I've been keeping track of my MPG since I bought the car. I was checking TSB's yesterday, and our cars have 2.1 gallons left (roughly) when the light comes on. It just bugs me because the gauge has been dead on until now. I tried resetting the ECU last night, but that didn't fix it. Oh well, I'll run it dry and re-fill to see if that fixes it.
Most of the cars I've owned have had pessimistic fuel gauges. I was excited when I bought my P5 - one year ago this week - because the gauge was dead on.

i too have had weird problems with my guage. i had a post awhile ago about it. one time i had the gauge sit between 3/4 full and full. it stayed there for nearly a hundred miles before it moved...and yes the tank was full to begin with(this happened after i filled up at like 3 gas stations thinking their pumps shut off too early). i became paranoid. even now it always shows lower than what i actually have used. sometimes off by 1/2-3/4 of a gal. today its off by nearly a gallon. i too record my mileage....have done so since day one. plain and simple our gauges stink.
