Has Anyone done a Wings West kit on a Protege Sedan. If so, How did it go does it require more plastic bits and pieces, or is it a complete kit. I wil be purchasing one soon and will be looking to buy the rest of the parts. Also does the stock grill fit in the bumper?

I recently (although on a protege5) got the wingswest front bumper and posted info on the piece and how it comes and random info you might find interesting, tread entitled "Wingswest out of box!"

Actually from what I found out in order to make the kit fit on a ordinary sedan. You must get what they are calling a bumper bar the wheel well interior plastics and a set of piaa or equivalant fog lights. Does anyone Know the piaa part # for fog lights that fit the PRO5 or MP3. Thanks for any reply.

I heard that you don't need the wheel wells for the wings west bumper, that's only for the mp3 one. all you need is the bar and the fog lights.

- Equinox: why did you replace the p5s bumper with a wings west one? they look almost the same. I don't mean to knock on you, just curious.

Sorry the pictures were a little dark....

All That I used was a mp3 bumper bar, PIAA light 540.
As for the wheel wells, I am not sure about the mp3 wells as I have not seen one to comment on how well they fit (may fit perfect, but then again??) My dealer makes you pay up front for a special order part, so I did not bother. Around the wheels the fit is perfect. Under the car, the bumper sticks out further, so there is a gap. Since I have the injen intake, I decided to fill the gap, and not risk water getting in. I just got some thin plastic and cut it to fit, and screwed it to the existing well.

That is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Sweet now I am excited, Thanks for the post. This is one i will save. Your car looks exactly how i would like my car to look. Will post more pics as soon as there is a nice day. Its been gloomy out, and everything always looks dark.
As for the fog light install.. Well, I cheated and just bolted them inside the hole. I was going to mount them to the frame, but it seems too far back. I am still unsure about if I will build a bracket to fit in the frame, it all depends on how firm it is. I just wired them in today, and still am unsure. Truthfully the lights to me are cosmetic, and I wont use them much. But WOW, are the PIAA things ever bright! Its nice, but I really hate bright lights on vechicles (hey, I think HID lights should be banished, and a person should be free to bash the lights in of anyone who has them).
Still getting used to the looks. I'm normally a hater of large rear wings, but I think a larger (not huge) MP3/MS wing may complement the vehicle.

Hella has a set (FF200) which fit the holes nicely. I did a custom job cause I measured wrong :p and put 6 1/4" in the holes. it looks different but the lighting is second to none.

I didnt post this last time but these are the numbers I got from my dealer.

BN7H-50-070A REINFORCEMENT $214.78 MPS
BN7H-50-031-AA Bumper, FRONT $214.46 MPS

BL8D-50-070B REINFORCEMENT 9030 $123.84 SPORT
BL8D-50-031B-AA BUMPER,FRONT 9036 $178.50 SPORT

The reason I asked the numbers is because my dealer doesnt seem to know much about the performance of these cars and doesnt seem to know to much in detail about thease cars just what they sell and deal with. Great dealership just not to knowledgeable. I think the MPS is the MP3 stuff will be ordering the bumper this saturday or monday and will let you know what is what. I am going to see if I can find a Pro 5 in the junkyard before I order the Bumper Bar. I doubt I will find one, but it is worth a try.

Thanks for the Part numbers TWIZ. Is there any difference in the bumper you list as sport versus the MPS part number? If sport is MP3-Pro5 and the MPS-MazdaSpeed then what is the difference? They are the same bumper as far as I can see from the pictures.

twizyours

I dont know it was hard to tell because he was bringing up alot of bumpers and it didnt look like he had anyhting specific it was all under protege there was no list for MP3, I think MPS is the MP3 I will order my bumper next week and I will then know for sure what is what and post the deffinent part#s then. These are the ones I got rite now. The sport might be pro5 or ES not sure. Thats why I was hoping someone who already has gotten the bumper could confirm this, but neverless soon I will know for sure and post the Part # for anyones info in the future. I dont know but on cork sports website if you look at the info they list for the pistons it says they are from the MPS (Mazda Performance Series) since the pro is a genuine MAZDA the MPS is probally the MP3 bumper and would think that the MazdaSpeed bumper should just be the same. I will see if I can get the prinout of the pics of the parts shown on screen when I go to order mine on Saturday or monday. They didnt even know what MPS standed for so hopefully soon I willl be able to clear this up.

Ok, so... what's the difference between a MP3 bumper cover and a P5 bumper cover? I always thought they were the same

And DAMN! Why are the bumper bars just as much as the bumper covers??

BlueMP5Dave
12-27-2002, 11:18 AM
As for price that is a Mazda thing, Wings West supposedly has something that works with there bumper that costs a little less so you can check with them. As for MP3 and MP5 bumper they are the same bumper with the exception of the cut outs on each side of the P5 bumper for the blinkers because there headlight assy. does not have a side viewable blinker. I hope that helped I am not ready for a body kit yet but I am collecting info so if you find out about the Wings West Bumper bar give us a hollar and tell what you find out.:D

Wings west is releasing the front bumper for the Protege Sedan that will not require the mp3 conversion.......looking at it from a cost perspective...i can get the wings west front bumper for $200 USD shipped and if i remember correctly the mp3 conversion thing cost close to if not more than $500 USD......should be out soon too.....

Just talked to a Wings West Rep, said front bumper for sedan will be out in the next 90 days(allegedly)...I need this bumper! I have the whole wings west body kit with the flares and spoiler, but i can't put it on untill i get the front bumper. Any other recommendations for a sedan front bumper that would compliment the flares? Not looking to spend more than $500 though(Times is rough):D

Dont get fustrated, go get the mp3/p5 bumer bar and just install it. WW has been saying the sedan bumper is coming out since I started looking for the kit about 9 months ago. If you are going to wait for them, be prepared to wait 90 days till 90 years.

I would assume that the sedan version will fit the stock bumper and wheel wells. I had to cut a plastic piece and fit it to fill the gap under the car to prevent splashing (around the wheel fits ok).
