Hey everyone, I was wondering if the Mazdaspeed has the same midpipe as my Protege5. Basically the straight section with the cat.

it's pretty much the same thing. i think the only difference was the placement of the catalytic converter and everything. the mounting points should be the same as the sedan and wagon.

the main difference is the provision that bolts up to the MSP's small cast downpipe. i think most aftermarket companies that make their downpipes just make this as one piece instead of the stock 2 piece setup. an example would be apex's downpipe. where that 90 degree piece meets the cat converter is usually where the stock cast downpipe ends(?).

I always wondered about that extra long section. So, it is just one piece to take the place of two...

Yeah the msp J-pipe and cat section is the same as the regular protege cat section. Beau and I talked about this yesterday.
