how the heck do i get it off?

Hey guys, im about to paint some things on my interior, Im having trouble getting off the centerpeice thats around the radio. http://www.new-cars.com/2002/mazda/protege/2002-mazda-protege-interior.jpg the silver part. Is there an easier way than screwing it off, cuz those screws are super hard to get to. Thanx.

tilt your vents down, grab at the bottom of the vent and pull

I popped it out and removed the 2 of the screws, but the other 2 are super hard to get to.

you have to disconnect the ac controls. there is a wire on each side that you have to disconnect. it disconnects the flappers. hope i made some sense. if not let me know.

Hmm, i dont get it

to remove the whole thing you have to do those steps. that removes the silver thing along with the emergency swith and ac controls. then its a matter of removing the 2 screws that hold the ac controls in place. if you dont disconnect those cables you will never get it out.
