I was wondering if any one knew if the speed limiter could be removed on the ES. I know on the olf F2 probe there was a wire to cut behind the dash. Any information appreciated.

Why does it matter. The current horsepower of the car doesn't let it get to a high enough speed to "limit" it in the first place. You may be thinking of the rev limiter. If you remove that, I guarantee you will over rev your motor and blow it up. It's your car though, do what you want.

Are you sure there is a speed limiter on the car? Other than limited by the engine itself, I didn't think there was one. What does your car top out at?

a five speed ES will hit redline in 5th at about 140 mph, give or take 2-3 mph. of course, a stock ES doesn't have the HP to get there, so it doesn't matter anyway. so no matter how much power your Pro makes, it's not going over 140mph.

i don't believe there is a speed governor on the ES -- of course, i could be wrong.

There isn't a speed limiter on the P5's... Mine is drag limited. From what I understand the drivetrains are the same for the ES and P5. Why do you want to go faster than 120MPH anyways?

I really didnt want to go over 140 but the MP3 only really has like 7 more horsepower and they say they are able to go 128 I have topped out at 110. I have heard other ES doing the same as well. What is the point of trying ot raise horsepower if you go to the track to be limited. I thought that there was some kind of limiter on speed, no I would not want to remove the rev limiter. I usually do 110 I belive at 4800 RPM and it usually doesnt go much higher, but it doesnt feel like the car is out of juice.

That's an interesting post on the other board.
I have had mine to an indicated ~125MPH on the speedometer, and it seemed like it had a little left. I simply ran out of road. *Shrug*

There is no Governer on the Protege's basically (Drag Limited). A protege ES can easily do 120+mph. I had a 94 Protege LX and i hit 135mph with mods though. But the MP3 has only been at 130mph and that was on an incline 2. Hey Twizyours, do you have a auto or manual on your 2002 ES???? the auto's Basically top out at 112mph.

I have a manual, today i got up to 118 but let off, it still wasw pulling though but I now do believe that their is no limiter. But I did notice that at 110 it paused briefly and then kept pulling it is just like a slight less pull not like a let off so I wonder if it is that slump in the Powerband and maybe last time I might I have thought that was the limiter and let off. I dont like auto's anymore but think it is good to have atleast one

fastest i got the mp3 was last saturday, comin home from biknmans house...131mph...i only slowed because i was at my exit, i really wanted to try to shut it down, to prove a point. i guess it wouldnt have anyhow, but im sure ill try again.

You mean press it to the max rev shut down? Out of curiosity what was your RPM's at that speed? When I get a chance I might try to see if I can get it over 120, but I dont know will see. I to do wonder if it will shut down and when? If you do get it to shut down let us know. I don't feel their is a governer though.

hey good job guy's, but be careful though. Anyways twizyourz i see you hit 118mph good job but don't expect to break the 123mph mark yet, cause your car is a 2002 and i see you still haven't broken it in yet, but guessing you'll break the 120+mph mark when it is broken in. We don't have a limiter or governer speed, only thing we have is a rpm fuel cutoff and is set at 7000rpms. I do believe 125mph in the MP3 is at 5700rpms.;)

I had my Pro up to 210km/h, not sure what that is in miles and my buddy with a Pro5 did about the same.

I've gotten my P5 up to 115 on a long, boring road trip a couple weeks back. I thought it could pull a little more, but no dice. 115mph, with the petal on the floor.

Triton, you think this will rise a little bit when the engine breaks in? It has about 4500 miles on it.

Yeah i'm Pretty Sure it will rise soon after you have about 8,900+++miles on it, also i have a Injen Cai and it help it out a bit. But i'm sure after it's really broken in you'll be able to get 120+mph.;) When i jhad my MP3 at 4000miles i could only go 118mph with only a little stretch of the road, But now i have 21434miles on it and have gone 132mph, previously. Also with the Injen Cai.

I have had my MP3 up to 140 MPH BEFORE I got the turbo!

On my P5 - 123Mph not floored...

Piece of cake and the engine was asking for more speed, had to slow down again to 80Mph  ...

Even though this is a old topic, but was that on an incline or was that on a straightaway with low fuel in the tank to lighten the car up? Also was it on the stock FS motor or the Japan FS-ZE engine.

With both the FS-DE and FS-ZE and most likely on a slight incline.

Haven't gone 140 yet with the turbo. Fastest I have been able to do is about 135. Need some tuning.

Is that with the MP3 Turbo'ed or MS-P and did you destroy the 3.5SE Altima or just creeped passed him. My friend's spec V barely hanged with an 3.5SE about to 100mph then the Altima Just walked away about 3-4 car lenghs and let off.

isn't tha Topspeed on the 3.5SE like 137-140mph(drag limited). cause i know the previous altima's have governer at 109-112mph.

Not sure, but he was gaining slowly. When I hit 135, I stayed there for about 10 seconds, and then the Altima cut across a few lanes to exit the HWY.

kewwwll good to hear that the MP3 turbo'ed can hang or beat a 240hp V-6 6-M.
