After reading celdridge's thread about maxing out his MPG's for a road trip I decided to spend the next tank of gas as much off boost as I can to see what kind of mileage I'll get. I've reset my ECU to start, but it's going to be difficult to hold to my plan. So far I've gone about 20 miles boost free (or very close to it). This is probably the most boring thing I've ever done and defeats the purpose of our cars, but in the name of science and self-control... here I go. Who else here stays out of boost consistently and what kind of mileage did you get?

i try to mix it up, but i am not sure on the mpg i get.
haha, i've been trying to stay out of boost as much as possible since i've only been getting like 250 miles per tank. but yeah, can't resist. it's hard. mostly on the freeway i try to remind myself that i just need to get there and to just hold my speed or just make sure i'm under 4K rpm and never above 0psi

you must drive the shit out of your car man. 250mpg is terrible. I drive pretty fast from time to time. And i get like 375 most the time out of a tank and i fill up right when the light comes on.
yeah i used to boost like a mother all the time, regardless of the speed. boost = crack. i think i'm getting up to like 275-300 per tank now haha

I can get 375-400 miles per tank. I have even gone as far as 422 miles on a full tank. I only use 93oct gas. (gun)

Im doing the same thing all week ... its really hard on my car to stay out of the boost. It spools so damn quick that it seems the turbo pops on at about 2000RPM in 1st and you cant beat it to the punch. I dont know why but does everyone's kick on that early?

Thats why i got en EBC! i go back down to stock boost all the time to save gas and be safe. Plus its a pain driving in traffic when your car is begging you to punch it. I just hit a button and she calms down..whew...

Yup I've gotten around that many miles on one tank...a little bit more actually. 440-something.
Normally I get 300-325 miles before the light comes on.

300+or- right when the light comes on is what I usually get unless I REALLY get on it... that's still with hitting 4500-5500 rpms at least at about every stop and sporadically on the high way... 3rd gear downshit every 10 miles or so.

Sounds exactly like the way I drive...and I get similar results. Around 300 miles to a tank, which works out to like 25mpg.

Are you flashed? I think I am since I just got my car new this past March and the hesitation is there, but not that bad. There's no stickers and I didn't see it when the dealership ran my VIN to see warranty work.

i'll average about 29 mpg. that's about a split of 50/50 highway and city driving. though for some reason, this last tank i got about 20 mpg.......i don't get it. i wasn't pushing it either.

I average about 26-28mpg, and that's boosting as often as possible. Usually end up filling the tank after about 350 miles, and that's right around the time that the light comes on. Figure if it come on with about 2 gallons left, I could possibly get 400 miles per tank, and that's driving hard. That's about as good as my Civic use to get:)

Okay update... Just past the 1/4 tank mark and I'm at 105 miles... not too bad... Haven't passed 3500 rpms once and I've hit 3000 rpms accelerating two or three times. On track for about 380 miles when I hit the light, I think. Does the SoFla humidity hurt mileage??? I don't think there's any way I'll break 400miles on tank, considering how conservatively I'm driving. By the way, 90%+ of my miles are on the highway.

That has happened like once or twice to me too. I have no idea why but it's not just you.

Almost half way and I'm at about 165... Any idea why the mileage seems to drop as you're approaching the half way mark?

i just got 426 miles on 1 tank and i hit the reset button about 6 miles after i filled up so it was really 432 or so. I drove the shit out of my car for the weekend, and I was on the highway 50% of the time just driving normal with the occassional jump up to 100 mph, i ran about 89 most of the way though.

I barely passed 300 miles on a tank driving all highway on a road trip a while back.

I'm getting to the 1/8 tank mark and I'm at about 325 miles. I'm really not that impressed with laying off the boost if it only got me about 25 more miles this tank. To be honest, I've been a little harder on the gas pedal the past two days, but still much lighter than before.

hmm so if our daily motto recited every morning in the mirror is "go fast or go boom" would that qualify as a boost a holic?

I think so. I was getting the shakes after driving around with out boost for two days. That feeling's passed, but I'm still feeling a void in my system.
