OK ... on the 17th of this month i am going on a long driving trip across country, we had decided to take the MSP and not the Turbo S Beetle as the beetle is a little too cramped for 3 of us. I am wondering if there is any way to increase the gas mileage for this trip from the standard 240-300 miiles i get out of a standard tank of premium. I already have an AEM CAI and hardpipes on my car with a greddy bov venting to air. My boost controller will be here this week. Would it be possible to turn the boost down or even off to save on gas of the car going in and out of boost all the time (that may be a retarded question ... i dont know). I can live with the car not having much HP for the benefits of not having to fill up every 300 miles at about 32.00 a tank. Any sugestions?

With boost kicking in at around 2400 rpm ist kinda hard not to ... unless i half stall the car when i shift. I have tryed driving without getting into the boost ... i just dont think my car will do it. It likes tha boost.

No, you're right foot is just too heavy.
Light pressure on the go pedal will prevent you from going into boost. I can easily go from 0 to highway speeds without ever hitting boost, and still more than keep up with traffic.
BTW driving at 60-65mph without stopping nets me > 35mpg.

if you push the gas slowly the turbo will not even spin up if you do it right, I did it once !!! its not fun and I dont recommend it, stomp on the thing and pay the money :)

Hah ... i think my right foot only works under heavy pressure though. Maybe i need to order a CF one (foot that is)

Apex Open midpipe got me about 20 more miles out of a tank... I don't think you can turn down the boost with an MBC since putting it in is almost enough of an obstruction to prevent you from going back down to stock boost levels.

Yep, if I'm in a hurry and the engine is cold, I just "baby" it up to 3k then shift. I do this until the engine warms up. But it doesn't bog the engine. Remember, this is just the 140hp 2.0 with a turbo slapped on. It won't hurt anything. But I get 36mpg hwy. doing 70. Just Injen and turbohoses hardpipes.
