ok so let me start off by saying i have no idea how to actually produce one of these, but i think it would be a good product to produce with many smic's on the market now...
i was thinking that someone could fabricate a plastic/metal piece to fit behind the lower grill to force air to go to the smic (which is conveniently stored tucked away..). i remember someone talking about this subject and mentioning a car magazine had one on an msp during some test.
it seems like it would not be that hard to produce. everyone has that same format behind the grill (you wouldnt have somehting in the way like a fmic...bc you would be purchasing this for a smic) and because it only deals with forcing air in a direction, it doesn't have to be some really expensive material.
just putting something out there. i'd def be in for some kind of gb, and i'd bet alot of other people would to - even not upgraded smic people ...

That was me who mentioned it. It was mentioned in the Turbo mag article when they reviewed the SMIC but I can't remember what company it was that made it. The article said it was a one off piece though, not a full production model.
I would have been interested in this last week, but I've got the Hiboost on order now :)

you would be sacrificing a little cooling, and these cars are allready hot enough, but it would probaly be worth a try,I guess.
hey T3ASE have you ever thought about painting the orange grill strip above your MAZDA emblem?
just a thought,ya know make it flow better.

what cooling would be sacrificed? just air going into the engine compartment through that lower grill?
i would think this would be a simple product to produce, but i dont know that (never fabricated anything like this before). for sure it could be done as a plastic piece - easily mass produced that way, also.

you mean like deverting ot from infront of the radiator to SMIC,that would be sacrificing cooling

I think he was refering to diverting it from the bottom air dam up to the IC ... that couldnt be any more harmful than having a licence plate sitting there.

The Metal Bumper is there. Trust me... Taking it from the Top Grille would be alot simpler. Just take from the Mazda badge to the SMIC and dump it towards the smic. You would need two pieces in the shape of an L. One to do the top and fender side and one to divert the air and the bottom side. You could use the existing bolt locations that hold the SMIC in position.

ya i was talking about the lower one because it seems like theres more room to work, and you could get a larger area to bring in air.
think you could whip up a little diagram of the 'upper grille' idea?

I've had both done.....made them out of 1/8 plastic. Rock came along and took the bottom grill out and the air diverter. I replaced the grill but never made another diverter. Actually tripped over it the other day working on the scamp lol.

I was just thinking about taking air from the SMIC side of the top grille and by using four panels, forcing it to pass through the SMIC. Use your imagination dude! (cool)
