I have a dent (soft, small and rounded) that I want to push back out. I tried to use a plunger, but that didn't work.

Nope, but I was planning on it since I have a small ding on the roof too. Now I've got more important damages to tend to :(

its as simple as pulling it down though. its just held on by automotive plastic pins

yeah, remove the pins in the back, and unscrew the light.

Maybe I'll just go ahead and remove the headliner. I went and bought that Ding King thing (I think that's what it's called) and after looking at it, it requires you to use a supplied glue gun (hot) and glue a piece onto the car. Can you say "f that"? But apparently it's supposed to come off with the supplied solution.

Arghh, I'll return it and remove the headliner.

Kinda OT but dealing w/the same area... what have you guys used/recommend for cleaning the headliner? I've got some water damage from my sunroof being left cracked open in a storm and the water seeped in and left marks on the surrounding material. I don't want to discolor it but at the same time it looks kinda dirty, any hints?

Gas is a good cleaning solution for headliners. I use to replace headliners and when they got smudges or whatever gas did the trick. Just take a cloth and put a small amount of gas on it not the whole rag. Scrub the stain and let dry. Headliners are easy to take out except for new caddies.
