(argh)Hey people, i don't know if i should even post this due to warrranty reasons, but lets say you have a boost controller and you run your boost up.....You set your boost at one level, more than stock, but take the boost controller made by turbonetics off cause it is total SHIT......idk, maybe a faulty one. Anyway, it has been maybe more than a week and your turbo is boosting 7 psi but you can't hear it spool up at all....maybe after a cold start up your looking at about a 3 second delay.....I am hoping that my turbo hasn't died on me already.....any ideas of what this could be....i really need to know what the deal is...this is my first turbo car and i heard most turbos are efficient till 100 thou. So what is the matter? I do have a turbo timer so it does idle the correct amount of time after a hard run. I will admit though i get on it more than once a day.....i am pretty sure most of you guys do too.....

I only have 30 thousand miles on my car, the boost controller was takin off the day i put it on.....this happens about a week later.....the car feels like it is only running engine then all of the sudden at random times the turbo will kick in....sometimes at 5 grand.....

Is your car slower? If your turbo is dead, it wouldn't go very fast.

it doesn't go as fast as it use to, but this is the thing, it takes a long time for the turbo to kick in.....there is no hesitation once it kicks in, it just feels like it doesn't want to work....only when it wants.....will the dealership fix my car? cause i might take it to them tomorrow

injen intake? pivot TT, and guages top monitor boost.... nothing serious...i have tons of electronic stuff, audio, and neon, but that has nothing to do with the turbo...

dude, you're going from like 10 psi when you had your MBC to 6psi now... of course its going to feel dead. you're used to 10psi.

If you take your boost controller off, you will need to reset your ECU. Take the negative terminal off for about 5 min. Then, start-up your car and drive it for a little bit and then it should be ok

I don't think he's that lucky... he said he only had it on for one day and the problem surfaced a week later, I think. Is there anyway for the dealership to tell you had an MBC?

Remove the turbo intake plumbing and try to see how freely the turbine spins on the berring. Do not sit there for hours and hours making the "Pretty Fin Thing" Spin without oil. Also, I would suggest that the car isn't running when you do this.

I hope you have a boost gauge. If so, watch what it it doing. Boost should start around 2500rpm in second gear and up. First doesn't put enough load on the engine. Watch what your boost is doing and if you are at 0 until 5k rpm, then you gots a major problem.

My car feels a little slugish. I was boosting 10 to 12psi and now I am at 6psi stock. Major decrease in hp and torque.

if the stock vacuum hoses are goone or cut they may know you tampered with them, i believe the stock is 3/16'ths fuel line and it's rubber cemented onto the T fitting so maybe grab some rubber cement and try putting the hose back on as stock looking as possible... mazda is deh SUXORZ at deh warranty upholding!!!!1ONE11

OK, I have a real issue with this right here. The stock vacuum hoses are 1) shitty and 2) really shitty. What happens if the wastegate hose cracks, and instead of waiting HOURS at the dealership you go to autozone and pick up one and clamp that bitch on? Is the dealership going to tell you you tampered with the boost levels because their shitty OEM equipment failed? I would tell them to go eat a dick and call my lawyer personally.
Anyway back on topic, it sounds like your hose came loose. Check it to make sure there arent any cracks, especially around the ends. Replace if necessary.

ok i am pissed off now.....two days in a row.....only when i start my car, i reset my ecu and everything....i changed my oil today as well.....every 3 thousand miles for those of you who might ask.....It gets worse everytime i start it up....and now my stupid ass cd player is broke again! It flipped, popped, and wont turn on even after i reset it...I seriously think mazda just put a refurbished one in like last time...This is the fourth time it broke. I should have kept my fucking alpine in there.....I watched my boost gauge on the high way today to be a little more descriptive.....The car barely pulls in the lower gears till 5 thou. Anyway, i put it in 5th and i am traveling at 70 mph.....i press the gas down.....no spooling, boost builds up to about 3 psi....wtf is a matter with my car! Then i get pissed downshift to 4th and then all the sudden the turbo begins to spool again......this is about 10 mins after driving....i am so pissed right now....my car is FUBAR

checked the hoses......and yes they are all good.....if they tried to void my warranty because i had aftermarket hose running to a t fittin that goes to my boost gauge.....i am going to be drop kicking every fucker that sells cars.....then go to the box with all the keys and steal me a msp miata...

also....the whole turbine thing? What if it is not getting oil....i heard that over a period of time oil coagilates in the line that goes to the turbine.......could this be a reason? and if so is that coverd by the warranty?

Hrm..... could your wastegate be stuck or damaged because of the extra boost levels? If your turbine wasn't spinning because of coagulated oil, they would sooooo not fix it because it says in your book that you have to wait to turn the car off so the oil does NOT cake up in the turbo. They would say "oh, you didnt follow directions..... you = fucked" and then go about their day.
I don't know much about the internals of turbos or anything like that, but the symptoms you tell me lead me to believe your wastegate is stuck open. I don't know how to fix it though, maybe someone else knows.

Well shit, that is the whole reason why i locked my fucking keys in the car once...due to the fact my car runs sometimes 3 plus minutes after i drive. I am use to hearing the car running so lay off the whole locking myself out....Had my spare inside too......can't believe i was that stupid....ANYWAY! I have a turbo timer so therefore it does run the proper amount of time....I purchased this a month after i had the car.....what would they say to this.....THis shit really pisses me off, because as shitty as my dealership is they will fuck me over!

They'd probably say that you tampered with the electrical system by installing the turbo timer in the car and deny your work that way. Some dealerships are so utterly anal-retentive about our cars its fucking rediculous.

My turbo spools a little later then it did before, and it takes alot longer to hit full boost, but i am running 13psi. Still runs good, I think it's just me.

The GT-25 can safely make up to 17 Psi Maximum before it hits it's "Surge Limit".
Running 12 Psi would put more stress on the turbo but not excessively.
The chance of oil corking the bering is really like... "Not Likely". Especially with a liquid cooled housing.
You would have to rev the shit out of the engine and shut it off without giving it time to spin down several times in a row for the oil to be cooked and cork the oil points.

Did you remove the turbo inlet to check the turbine for ease of motion? Turning the turbine with the car off is the only way to reallt see if the journal bering is good or not1

I agree with him ^^ - did you look at the fins a' spinnin'?Let me get this straight, you want me to take off, the intake and spin the actual fin with my finger? What should i be looking for? Will it be more difficult to spin or what?

It should turn freely. Like it was on "a well oiled bering" !! :)
