ok, so the lug pattern is 5x114.3 and the oem wheels are 17x7 with a +55 offset. i understand these boat anchor wheels look pretty but they weigh 22-23lbs/each! in the interest of dropping rotational weight to put more of the 140hp to the ground, i was wondering what size lightweight 15" and 16" wheels would work.

will 15" or 16" wheel fit over the brakes on a mp3? does anyone know the offset a 15x7 wheel would need to be?

a 16x7 should fit fine with 205/50 rubber. summer tires in this size read like a who's who of awesome rubber.

Not sure of the offset, but 15's will fit. That is what my winter rims are.

i dont think diameter effects offset, i think ur 15's would be the same offset as ur 17's, and yes, the mp3 racing harts are the best damn boat anchors since the gm 305

Personally, I'd stick with 17s. I know there aren't too many tire choices in the 205/45. I know some people have 215/40s on their mp3 (I have 215/40/17s on right now).

I have 15x6 rims for my snow tires.

16's will fit. If you want to get 16s, maybe look up the 16" rims for the Protege5? I know those fit.
