stereo syetem sound problem

My 2002 protege LX with a CD and cassete player for some reason has more power in the front speakers than the rear speakers. I don't want too much bass in the front speakers because you can hear it outside more. I replaced the rear speakers with a higher power one and it sounds the same, no bass. Usually the rear speakers in cars have all the power in the rear. Has anyone else had this problem or is it normal for the car and can it be fixed. (help)

fade it more to the rear.. also, the front speakers take less power to push , so the front will be louder than the aftermarket rear that need more power to run..
