i've been searching, but i can't find if any there is aftermarket rear swaybars available for the p5. someone here mentioned utilizing the mp3's swaybar, but racing beat expressly says it does not fit. anyone know of the size of the oem rear swaybar and what aftermarket options are available?

does anyone know if koni makes externally adjustable yellow (sport) dampers for the p5? does ground control make their slip-on coilover setup for the p5?

Nope, no Koni's for the P5, yes GC makes a coilover setup for the P5. AWR makes the aftermarket sway bars for the Protege5, two of them, in fact; One in 19mm, one in 21.5mm. Yes, you can make the MP3/Mazdaspeed Protege rear sway bar fit. One of the users on here (Asian6er, I think?) has done so. =) SPD currently has a special going on for the sway bars, too, I think.

Tokico makes adjustible struts for the P5, by the by, though. =) They're adjustable at the strut tops, I beleive.

Actually AWR makes 3. Two 19mm bars, one adjustable one non, and the 21.5mm adjustable. The only option right now, other than super $$ tien SS coilovers for adjustable struts is the tokico Illumina. Koni will probably not make any more products for Mazda. Mazda royally F'd them.

Whiteline and I believe Apexi also make swaybars for the P5.

That's right, I forgot that Whiteline made sway bars. =) I should've clarified and said 'AWR makes two SIZES of sway bars' instead. Hehe.

:) Me being my usual a-hole self. The story about the MP3 is on racingbeats site....Mazda had koni do all the research, got the info from koni, and had tokico make the struts....Kinda pissed of Koni

too bad cause koni makes some of the best stuff around. they can also rebuild and custom valve their stuff here in the usa, not silly jdm stuff that takes months to get.

what size is the oem p5 rear swaybar?

how do you like the awr 21.5mm rear bar? can the attachment points take the increased load?

Koni is great, had some on my stang. 16mm is stock for the rear bar. I love the 21.5mm bar, it's a completely different car. I have the Illuminas, so the mounting points are fine. No problems with the frame mounting either. AWR's products are great, I have a few products and they are super heavy duty and well built. The tokico's are good also, they work great with my setup and dealt wonderfully with the punishing milage I've racked up. 17K so far....

AWR is working w/ Koni now that they have their Laguna Seca pacecar back to make some custom stuff for the Pro5. Tony said it might take awhile though as they have to finish getting everything done for the Tri-Point Mazda6's.

If you want to reinforce your chasis GT-Spec makes many parts. i can't wait til i have the money for them. as for the the larger sway bars it is highly recommended that you get the tokico struts because they have reinforced tabs for the thicker swaybars to be mounted to. if you do use the stock struts w/ the larger sway bars more than likely you will ruin the struts and do possible damage to your car.

does anybody have this kit installed? Did you run it with the factory struts?
Let me know, I must have this.
Thanks
