Theoretical 1/4 mile ET Cube root of weight divided by hp, times 5.825
Theoretical 1/4 mile MPH Cube root of hp divided by weight, times 234

So taking the weight of our cars being 3691 lbs and an estimated hp of 170 the theoretical 1/4 mile time would be 16.25 sec.

The theoretical mph would be about 84 mph.

Horsepower is rpm times torque, divided by 5252. I think our peak hp is around 5800 rpm and torque being 160 ft. lbs. then hp is about 177.

Torque is 5252 times ph, divided by rpm which would give us about 153 ft. lbs.

Now of course all hp and torque is from crank figures and all are theoretical. I just thought that most were pretty close

Well that's what it said on the inside of the drivers door. I will take a pic of it later sometime.

Well that's what it said on the inside of the drivers door. I will take a pic of it later sometime.I don't think a behemoth sized 6S with a V6 in it weighs that much. (boom04)
I don't care if there is a label on there that justifies your ridiculous claim this car does not weigh over 3000lbs.

our cars def don't weigh that much.

I was at the track last night and with me in it and the gas light on it was 2860, i weigh 165lbs.

This math comes from where exactly?

problem with ur calc of hp is that max torque was measured at 160 lbs-ft of torque at 3500 rpm. where the hp is messured at 170hp @ 5500 rpm. higher rpm = automatically raise the hp.. that is why with a 7-8k honda's redline, the HP is so high but the torque is so low.

as for you quarter mile times, i think u are close. however usally u need to see the area under the torque curve(aka integral of torque).. That is why the equation will never work for a honda car... cuz they have a lot of hp at the top end but not a lot of torque.

there is a scale at the track, i weigh 2900 with me in the car...FYI

Haha yeah the only reason I clicked this thread was I saw 3900 lbs as weight.
The weight listed in the door is the weight of the car, full tank of gas, 4 passengers weighing 180 or 160 each, can't remember, and maybe some stuff I'm forgetting. Our cars are about 2800-3000 depending on driver weight and gas.

okay, I think we can assume the weight number is waaayy off. My '65 Impala only weighed 3500lbs. wet.

Ok my bad. This was just for fun, I guess I will know better next time. Remember THEORETICAL. And by the way I got these from a car magazine but I don't remember which one.

I weighed the MSP last night at the track it was 3025lbs with me and 3/4 tank of gas. I weigh around 160lbs.

official specs:
curb weight: 2843 lbs (1279.5 kg)
hp (sae) 170@6000 rpm
torque (sae lbs-ft) 160@3500 rpm

they already did the math for us ;)
