I have read that the AWR header will fit the pro5 with an auto tranny with some minor fit problems. Can anyone tell me what the problems are and post any pics if you have them?
Thanks

I'm sure if you call Tony at AWR he would know everything. I've called AWR so many times and they always have an answer. Their site is www.awrracing.com (http://www.awrracing.com) I don't know the number off hand.

I emailed them last week and here is what he had to say:
"Jeff
the header was not designed to fit with the auto trans. But many people have purchased it for that car! originally, we had some fitting issues, but as of late I have not heard of any problems in this application.

Give them a call and just ask for a more specific answer. I'm sure they have some idea of why it doesn't fit if they're claiming it's for 5-speeds only.

It fits fine.....no problems. I dont see why there would be a fitment issue anyway.....bolts from the head to the midpipe, AGR Valve and everything is the same.

Thanks for the info.
How do you like the header? Did you change the mid pipe and cat or is that still stock? How does the powerband feel?

Love it.....and yes, i took out the wavy cat'ed midpipe and installed a straight 2.25" piping from the header back. It pulls so much better at around 4k rpm all through the powerband.

Thanks Thats right, no cats......i hate em (headshake You get a CEL when u install the AWR, so all u need to do is install a MiL eliminator for $20, very easy to install. The exhaust tone is very deep.....well, that depends on the muffler that you have. I currently have a Ractive Muffler, but i should be getting the HKS axleback pretty soon.....the exhaust tone is starting to getting pretty ricey.
You should get that AWR from Gcs118.....there hard to get now. You should pay around $250 for a used one......shouldnt be more than that. I bought mine used, and shipping was roughly $17.

there is a difference between the manual and automatic! The oil pan positioning is different for auto/manual. There will be some rubbing issues and an irritating rattle underneath when the exhaust is heated. So, i would go with the OBX header for the protege 5 because it gives a lot of clearance so it won't rub against the oil pan. I learned the hard way so now my oil pan has a dent in it (boom04)

I see P5MoJo has an '02. CitizenPro - what year is yours? Could this possibly only affect '02s? Just a thought. I'd rather have a 4-2-1 than a 4-1, so that limits me to AWR and ES.

There is also the Racing Mazda header. It is a 4-2-1 that eliminates both cats. http://www.racingmazda.com/protege-exhaust.htm
