*This was on a Mustang dyno*
First off my mods are 2.5 catless midpipe, greddy sp2 catback, ion fmic, injen cai, and unichip.
I ran it on map A with the boost controller on (held 9lbs to redline)
I put down 218.6 whp, the torque is all screwed up, so i'm not sure about that.
That hp curve is not smooth though, it is very lumpy looking.
I was happy to put that much down, so on a dyno jet I "should" make about 10% more putting me right about 240 whp.
I didn't run it at stock boost at all, but on this same exact dyno I put down 153 whp when all I had was an injen cai.

Never. Try a Dyno-Jet then post your findings in SAE.

Look at the article in sport compact car about dynos this past issue. Then you'll see what he means.

It all comes down to how they run the dyno. What gear, when they start the pull and how much load.

He actually says it himself same dyno stock car with intake is 153whp, thats what everyone is so that is correct.

Is the MPI a little more than a Unichip? What's the best hp numbers from an MPI owner without engine or turbo mods but with exhaust, intake, and FMIC?

As a vendor you should know that the Unichip is more than just making huge power. Anyone can go buy a stock MSP and a $40 MBC and make 250 whp....

"Awesome numbers. What are you using to tune it? "
"Butt dyno .. I have no electronics in the car at all. I have my FP reduction kit to drop the pressure since the car is way to rich (over 10:1 AF stock- I am 13:1 on 116 now), my prototype FCD to elimintate fuel cut, colder plugs and just basic stuff (experimenting with plug gaps, heat ranges, etc.).. I am waiting to see how much boost I can get away with without detonating once the 116 is gone and I have straight pump- it used to be 11 psi on a cool night with the stock PLATINUM (who puts platinum in a turbo car anyway- MAZDA???) plugs. I am hoping for 13-15 with the colder plugs-"

If you put down 153whp with an injen CAI on the same dyno, adding 10% is WAY out of the question. That would be like saying that you put down 168whp with nothing but a CAI on a Dynojet.

i think people keep forgetting the unichip CAN be tuned for big power also ....
its just not tuned that way PnP cuz all cars are diffrent . extra and or larger injectors etc
most of the more built cars on the forum are using the MPI or other stand alone . because those are the people that have the skills to tinker with it themselfs.
so natrually you will see bigger numbers from those people .
the unchip does make the car drive ALOT better then stock , without all the make shift clamps , fprs , fcds o2 sims and other crap. any one with a good amount of $$ can get a unichipped set up making just as much power as anyone else on the forum .
they just havent done it YET..
with out custom maps + extra fuel dont expect the unichip to make 250 HP with just some bolt ons and zero tuning , i never expected it to. i wish people would stop trying to bash it when there just ignorant to the situation

how about 2.4" cs exhaust, intake, tuned unichip, w/ 261hp.(not whp)
Its totally possible, the unichip really does have alot of potential. Not as much as a standalone, but it can stand on its own.

i know man , people just dont do there home work . its entirely posible for the unichip to take a msp well beyond 300hp . (with the obvius support)
most of the chipped msps on the forum are in a mild state of tune
i cant wait to see what happens in a year when more people are busting 250 + with it for all you unichip bashers , why not do a little research on the UC befor bashing ITS TUNABLE just not at home.............

They're both equal in my book.
A dyno shows what the car can put out, a track time shows what the driver can do with the car from a dead stop.

Hey,
Curious here, does anybody have some third party tests on the UNICHIP? I hear a lot of "dyno" talk, but have never seen 0-60 testing. Sounds like a great product, but I would like to see some real world twisty track testing.
Thanks in advance if you have anything to offer.
Godspeed!

10 lbs, but spiking 13, it was about 70 degrees outside. You really gotta heat those drag radials for them to do anything, also mess with your tire pressure, 18 seems to be the best for me.

I ran 13.503 @ 103 mph this wednesday. Around 75*F out and the track was really slick due to the humidity. That run was a 2.24 60'. I was only running 11psi because I only put a couple of dollars worth of 100 octane, and I didn't want to push it. I really should've bought the 225's....these 205's suck...
Awsome times!!

I've never ran higher than 93 octane in mine. Do you think I could really tell a difference?? I have heard not to do it because it messes up your o2 sensor, but I have the mil eliminator on it so i'm not sure??

Since you have the computer you may not "need" the 100 octane as long as there is no detonation. You wouldn't be able to tell the difference between 93 and 100 unless you were detonating on 93 and 100 cured it. I run 100 octane because the way I have my car setup I have heard pinging above 6k @ boost levels above 14psi. As a rule of thumb there is probably unaudible detonation @ 12-13 psi. I use it as a saftey curve.
Screw the rear O2....worry about the front O2, its the one that counts. As long as you run unleaded fuel you should be fine.....even though I have run leaded in it. I also have a spare set of O2 sensors.

Badass numbers. So your Unichip was puchased with the intake/exhaust maps and runs alright with the FMIC? I ask because I'm probably going the exhaust, Unichip then FMIC route.
