I bought a set of NGK wires........how does everyone else have them setup on their car? Is there something else I have to buy to put these on?
a tech at work told me i need a distributer?
confused?

If you don't already have a distributor in your car then you're doing a lot of walking because the car can't operate without one.
I'm not familiar yet with Pro-5 electronics, but generally when I buy new wires I also replace the distributor cap and rotor (if there is one), as well as the coil to distributor lead (again, if there is one). Many new cars have some of these things integrated.

I would think all you needed was a little diaelectric grease.

we dont have a distributor cap......we have coils. And theres only a select few that make wires for our car.....Magnecore, Nology, Sparkco, and maybe one or two more.
This will help you out: http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=57047&highlight=nology+wires

Yeah, I just took a look at the technical shop manual. Each cyl has its own coil, and it looks to be a solidstate ignition system so no dizzi cap or rotor to change. The wires should be plug and play. Although I did notice you're putting them on a 2003, so I wonder what your mileage is. Normally I would go 40-50K before changing wires, and quite often the OEM wires are usually very good.

i have about 33K on my car as of now
CitezenPro, from what I can see on your pics......it looks like you just removed the two black boxes from ontop of the plugs and relocated them to the front of the engine?
does this work?

The Nology Hotwire kit relocates the coils just like in my pic......and yes, it works fine.

The relocation looks great but I think I would be worried about the coils being that close to the headers. Seems like you'd lose some power through heat soak.

Someone needs to make a how to for us dumbasses. I keep looking at it and everyone is telling me how easy it is (like just slap them on) but i cant figure it out. HELP!

You literally just pull off the old wires and put the new ones on.. that's all I did. No tools required.

well i'm going to take a crack at relocating the coils tomarrow.........is there anything I should watch for or anything else I need to do this?

Thats why i wrapped the header.....it took away a good amount of heat from the wires. Im going to wrap them a second time, for extra security pretty soon.

Theres actually a bracket that u need to relocate them. The Nology kit comes with it......and if u could post up a pic of the wires that you have, we all could tell you if its going to work.

I don't see the point of that kit. why attach wires when none are needed. all you are doing is forcing the ignition system to push the electrical current over a longer distance thereby increasing resistance and strain on the system. they put the coils over top the spark plugs because it is the most direct route for the charge to get to the plugs. the only thing might be for looks but i feel it gives the engine an outdated look to it. what site did you get your Nology Hotwires from? just to be clear on this, the protege engine setup is the same as a pr5 right? cuz i have a 02 and am thinking of getting these wires and only finding the Nology Hotwires for a protege, not a pr5. this is the site that i am looking at Nology Hotwires (http://www.protegegarage.com/)
thanks.

Install them in order, one at a time so you get the firing order correct.
