1. You are officially crazy. 120 mph in a 3s? Two words for you: Road Rash.

2. The rev and speed limiter are controlled by the ECU. In order to remove the fuel/spark cut, you'd have to crack the ECU. To my knowledge, that has not been done. You could purchase a stand alone engine computer and bypass the factory ECU altogether. Of course, if you went down that road, you'd also have a big turbo and intercooler crammed under the hood.

The suspension handles well for speeds under the speed limiter, but this car was never designed/engineered for regular duty at those speeds. All it takes is one speed induced oscilliation in the suspension and you are now in oncoming traffic. I used to know guys that could got 140 miles/hour in their stock SHO Taurus, but that still doesn't mean it is smart. In fact, one of them died in a head-on collision going down Interstate 30 in Texas doing 120 MPH. His rear suspension started oscillating and he lost control. Seconds later he was a hood ornament on an 18-wheeler.

Two things,

1.) if you havnt passed the guy by the time your doing 120 chances are going to 130 won't help.

2.) i hope when you lose control at 120 you only kill yourself and not someone innocent of your stupidity

Call me an idiot too then, jeez! I went 150-160 in my integra with my Ls tranny! I was on surface/public street too!! But itwas 3:00 in the morning and i had already driven up and down the street to look for cops!! I needed the thrill!!! I was sellin the tranny and getting a civic SI one. And trust me, i couldn't go over 120 for more then 1 second in 5th gear cause i was already at like 8K+

At 120 mph, the impact force alone is enough to cause every ounce of glass in the car to shatter and most bolts to sheer off their respective nuts/studs. If you are NOT thrown from the car during an impact of that speed, you are MORE LIKELY to die. Under those forces, the car will fold up like a wad of tin foil. Crumple zones and energy absorbsion zones were only designed to dissipate energy from accidents UNDER 55 MPH. Anything more than that and you are begging to become a parapalegic.

At 70 or 80 you will die if you lose control. My girlfriend has even had it up to 100 so i guess shes crazy too then along with all my friends.

Depends on your view of things.
While I won't tell you that you are stupid for taking it over 110mph, it certainly is unwise to do so on stock rubber and/or stock suspension.

At those speeds, if you are using tires not rated for it, you WILL lose traction/stability and ultimately lose control of the vehicle. Same deal with the stock suspension, It was designed to provide general comfort, basic handling, and long term use. They WILL NOT provide the proper grip, spring rate, shock rate, etc.....

Of course if you are like me and can't resist such things then go for it, but only during times when it's at Minimal risk to others and certainly w/o passengers, as when you DO lose control, you can bet your ass you're in some DEEEEPPPPPPP trouble.
That's all I have to say. Upgrade your tires and suspension and get J-spec ecu and go as fast as you wanna go at 3am in the morning (wrc). Then wrap the car around a light post and hope you lived life to the fullest.

And bjfaircloth... just because we're not doing 120 doesn't mean we're not going over the speed limit. There are sensible restrictions on speed that most sane people observe.

Remember those two knuckleheads a couple years back that were racing a Vette and a Camaro down I-75? The dumbass in the Vette misjudged the speed of a semi he was trying to go around and ended up under its wheels. If he had been going under 100, he might have lived.

Driving fast is simply that; driving like a man is knowing your limits, the limits of the car, and driving within them. At those speeds, there is no way you can manuver, get out of the way, or even control your automobile if anything goes wrong. Something as simple as a rock could sent you hurtling, and anyone that pulls in front of you will die.The Mazda3 was simply not designed to go those speeds and still be controllable.
