I've driven alot of cars and by far this car has the best headlights. Drove in middle of the country tonite, it was completely dark. The highbeams lit up the road perfectly and i could see clear for a mile. Not even hids could light up the roads that well.

seriously though, I tried to go to sleep at 12am...couldnt sleep, went out and painted my calipers and also fixed the front end noise I had. Came in, took a shower, and now her I sit not able to go to sleep...Im gonna try again in a little while (lol2)

My wife's SVT Focus with the HID's are the brightest I've ever seen. She reminds me how bright they are when she is behind me too.

I love my HID's. They look great on msp's I think everyone should get a set because I get nothing but compliments for mine

also, there was an article in a big car mag(C&D, R&T, autoweek, or sumthin like that) that compared a bunch of HID equipped cars, and a bunch of halogen cars, and the P5 has better illumination than all the halogens and half of the HID equipped cars...It is most likely due to the small reflector taht focuses all of the lgiht very tightly...

I remember a post by THE MAN saying that the sedan headlights > P5 headlights because they are the European design or something. I like our lights better anyway.

Consumer Reports did the headlight test. It was the only thing about my Protege that beat my dad's Audi TT(they had the worst headlights and they're HID).

HID might be bright and looks cool but most of them can't get the reach in distance like a halogen can. I'll take a light that let me see further away at night any night if u speed.

I have a set waiting to be installed but I want mazda to fix my front lip first. It's seperating from my car.

I bought some eurodezign crap bulbs and they suck ass. The stock are much brighter.

i had them do it TWICE!
morons just piled more double sided tape on top of the old one.......pieces of tape stuck out from the sides.

then one saturday morning i said fuck it!
did everything myself.
till today lip looks like the day i bought the car.
and it's been 6 months already.

i did the rear too....piece of cake compared to the front.

They already had their first chance. That's exactly what they did too. Pulled it off and replaced the double-sided tape. I'll give them another shot because the techs are pretty cool at my dealer. Also, pulling off my bumper is way out of my league. :)

Sorry to stray this thread off topic. I'll start another after my next trip to the dealer.

The headlight article that was referred to earlier in this thread was an article in Consumer Reports and the Protege5 was awarded the best headlights of any halogen car and it performed better than many HID set-ups.

I have owned and driven both the sedan and P5 and in stock form the P5 headlights are brighter and slightly better than the sedans in my opinion. But I LOVE my Catz HIDs in my sedan right now.
