I was just in the same boat as you. I blew my MP3 tranny. I tried to replace it with a MSP tranny, but my stealership is 100% sure that it wont fit. The say the connection on the MSP is one quarter inch larger??? I dont know if this is true or not so I ended up buying one from Ohio off of a protege 5 for like $400 with 7k miles, not bad considering the stealers wanted $2700 for the tranny alone!! I didnt want to chance it with an MSP. If I were to go through all types of trouble getting it and then it wouldn't fit??? Too risky.
I did post a thread to see if anyone has tried this, meaning put a MSP tranny on a non-MSP. but as usual no one posted any helpful responses???
Your best bet is car-part.com for an MSP tranny or whatever.
Hope that helps??

This may be a stupid question, but what is the difference between a MSP tranny and just a Protege tranny?
