Anyone know what else one would need to install the factory Head unit out of a sport 20 familia into a us spec ES? I got to thinking since i've been looking around for a new head unit that it would be nice to use the factory lcd screen and HU for a clean look if i can hook in two amps and a nav system. I remember a place that specialized in used JDM import parts if I can remember the site addy, just need to know if i'd need anything else besides the HU.

we can only assume its a standard FM tuner and cd player...and as long as its 12V negitive ground...you should be all set...the ONLY thing that may get you is......
is the wireing harness the same in the JDM? as in, is the plug from the stock harness the same as yours? if not....you will need that part too....and then what I would do if I were you...would be to get a standard harness from either Scosche, or Metra, or American International which is made to plug into your harness and then put the two together so that you can use your JDM head unit...and not cut into your fractory harness....this will also give you an easy way to splice into your speaker wires for adding the amps into the system.

Well so far everyone that i've checked with is unitrested in importing one, and besides the fact that my harness is already cut...when I installed my pioneer nobody had a harness out so it got cut.

if I am not mistaken japenese radios are on different frequencies and will not work here in the states. A friend has a JDM right hand drive integra gsr and the radio is stock and will not pick up any radio stations, plays cds just fine but no radio. Not sure if thats of any help but just wanted to make sure that you knew. I do like the look of the lcd screen where the radio should go. Very clean looking.

Actually they make a resistor that changes the frequency steps so that you can get most US FM stations. Theres a store on andale.com that specializes in JDM radios that can sell you the resistor...it just plugs in the rear of the radio if i'm not mistaken. Here's the url http://www.andale.com/stores/sf_home.jsp?mode=1&sfUrl=themeltingpot Thanks to mint_blue for hooking me up with that...cool site w/lots of aftermarket JDM electronics
