Well, I want to thank everyone here. I have been lurking for the past couple weeks, gathering as much info as possible on my purchase decision. From my lurking I've discovered that there are only a couple real complaints about the P5--the paint and the rattle at start-up--which is a lot fewer complaints than most cars seem to have. As a comparison, I was considering getting a new Sentra SE-R Spec V, which is a sweet little car with about 50 more horses than the P5, but when you hang out on the SE-R forums, you realize they have some serious problems with oil-burning, etc.

So . . . I put a deposit down today on a silver 2002.5. I unfortunately had to go with the sport automatic, since I've got a bad back that can't take a lot of clutch pushing every day (hey, I'm 40 years old--give me a break). But it should be lot of fun nonetheless. Got the car for $200 over invoice, which seemed like a fair price after I researched what everyone here seemed to be paying.

I'll be picking it up in a couple days. Just wanted to say thanks for all the valuable info everyone's sharing here.

hey man, thats what we're here for. even if you "lurk", you'll learn stuff for the ride...good luck with it, and being old dont mean you gotta stop shifting, does it???

It's for my wife to drive. It will replace a '92 Saturn SC2 with 130K on the clock. I will inherit (and begin to tweak) our '97 Civic EX coupe with just 17K on the odo (momma don't drive much). Jim
