What are stabilzer links & do they usually need replacing after 35k miles?
When I took my MY99 Protege ES for the 30k checkup the dealer said that I will need to replae my both my stabilizer links soon.
TIA,
Robert

I'm assuming they are talking about your endlinks on your swaybars. They shouldn't need replacing on a normal basis unless something is wrong. It's not a wear item, just a basic part of the suspension.

Like NegatiZE said, the end links do not need replacing unless there is something wrong. Usually there will be some sort of noise coming from them to let you know that their time is up.

Thanx both!
Hummm, I do hear noise so maybe I do need new links? I understand that these are not wear-and-tear parts but what can be some cause for early demise? I do get the tires rotated/balanced/aligned every other oil cahnge ...

Well they do wear down eventually but it's not something you should need to change often. At then end of the stabilizer links (a.k.a. end links) are ball joints filled with grease. If for some reason the grease leaks out, you get noisy end links.
