magnaflow's is just a catback. it bolts up to the second cat. run a search for "aftermarket exhausts" and you'll find a thread i started with soundclips/vids of an msp w/ magnaflow catback.

i have the cat-back magnaflow and i am happy with it. it isn't too loud but i think you need to get a full turbo back to get louder. the sound is deep and i have notice it pulls harder at higher rpms then it did before the exhaust

Isnt the magnaflow the same I/D as the stock exhaust??

Yea it's 2.25 ID piping. Buy the one for a mp3 its the same and cheaper price. It fits the stock catback section. We test fit it on my car before we put it on a MP3. Sounds okay not much louder than stock. Minimal performance gains. Cats still block the flow.

Wait...so the Magnaflow exhaust is not really an upgrade in piping? I thought the stock exhaust had a 2" ID. If they're both the same size, is there really a difference?

get a JIC. From what i hear it is the best sounding exhuast period. Since i never got my greddy SP2, i ordered a JIC a couple days ago from AutoRND. I can't wait to see it and hear it. but i still need an engine first.

I appreciate input, but if somebody could answer my question, I would really appreciate it.
I have done several searches, but I am seeing a lot different information. It seems that people are saying a lot of different things about what the pipe measurements on this system. So if somebody could just settle these questions for me once and for all, I would be really grateful:
1. What is the MSP stock exhaust's piping size (inner and outer diameters)?
2. What is the piping size for the Magnaflow system (inner & outer diameters)?
Thanks!

Stock exhaust mid section is 1.8 to 2 inch. Racing beat rear section is 2.25. Get a downpipe and the Magnaflow for the best results.

Okay, so the stock exhaust system has a 1.8 - 2.0 inch downpipe and 2.25 inch exhaust.
Does anybody know the true answer to question number two?
Thanx again!

2.25 all the way till it tapers down some at the flange where it bolts into the stock cat section.

I built a custom 3" exhaust with a magnaflow muffler. . .the sound clip is in my sig. . .I think it is the best sounding exhaust option. . .but that's my opinion.

Hmmm, the Magnaflow doesn't really seem like an upgrade then. If I'm going to spend that much, I'll have to look for a larger piping diameter.
I'm thinking Greddy SP2, or maybe EVO2.
Thanx for all your help.

Anything over 2.5 is overkill on the stock turbo at 10 psi.
