removed factory bose cd player, am replacing with kenwood kdc 222. Bought wire adapter kit and wired it up, radio came on fine, but speakers did not work. On back of bose radio there were two black wires plugged in, one for antenna and the other ???. A friend said the bose went through an amplifier somewhere on the firewall and I would have to bypass amp. Anyway does anyone have any clue what is going and how to get sound.

my friend with a pontiac gtp, replaced his bose deck, and just like you had extra wires, one i know for a fact is to hook up the remote wire for the stock amp, and until you do that, you wont hear anything....at least thats exactly what happened to him, anyways, what you got with bose?
durk
**the remote wire needs to get a 12v + connection to your cd player, there should be a remote wire already on the back of your deck, if not, hook it up to an accessories line.(remote wire on deck is usually dark blue and marked)

twisted1272,
Can you clarify this thread as the Mazda3 has no bose components, are you talking about the Mazda6? If so, I can move this thread over there.

Bose systems work in two ways.. either (1)a stand alone amplifier powering all the speakers or (2) a low level audio input to an amplifier built onto the speaker. i haven't taken apart the Bose systems offered on the Mazda 6 yet, so i'm not sure which system it is. also, if the Bose system is (1), then you also have to worry about the resistance of the speakers cause Bose like to use 2 Ohm speakers with their systems. a typical after market speaker is 4 Ohms so you actually lose half the loudness.
in your case, it sounds like the amplifier is not turned on.

There is no Bose equipment in the MAZDA 3 automobile. This forum is for the MAZDA 3 automobile. Please take your unrelated posts to the proper forum.
Quit posting confusing info that has no relation to this forum. Again, I say, THERE IS NO BOSE EQUIPMENT IN A MAZDA 3! Go away!
Geeze, some people's kids.

OMG!
Sure, it's not confusing talking about a Bose audio system in a Mazda3 audio and electronics forum. GET IT??
THERE IS NO BOSE EQUIPMENT IN A MAZDA 3!
All you are doing is confusing the people who will now think there is a bose audio system in a mazda 3, and there is NOT.
