Hello,
I just bought an '02 P5 yesterday, and I notice a few things about it.
It only game with one key, and it was a basic cheap copy.

It had no Owners Manual, so I have a few questions that you guys may be able to answer.
1. What does the Original Factory key look like? And is it worth finding one to have an original style key?
2. Am I supposed to have any sort of remote (unlock doors, lock doors, panic button, etc.)?
I found this on ebay for an '03 protege:

3. Do I have a security system? I have a tiny red LED right in front of my guages, but I never see it on.
If the answers turn out to be Yes I should have a remote, and yes I have an alarm, then where is the best place to get key/fob replacements? I know factory replacements are usually very expensive.

Yes, you should have 2 remotes, and 2 keys. One just metal, slightly triangular shaped at the top and the other w/ a black top. As to the alarm, I'm not sure, because I don't have one and none of the local P5s have stock alarms.

the cars came with one key like you have and another with just a bit of plastic on it, they also came with two remotes like the ones in the picture. the red light on your steering colum means you have the faxtory shock sensor alarm usually. you can get those remotes from ebay or a dealer and have them programmed to your car at the dealer.

Yes, you have an alarm and keyless entry. If you purchase the remotes from ebay, you can reprogram them yourself (to save the trouble of visiting the dealer).
Reprogramming the remote:
1. Make sure there are no keys in the ignition and that all doors are closed
2. Open driver's side door
3. Insert key into ignition switch and cycle the key between the ON and LOCK positions 3 times
4. Remove key from ignition switch
5. Push the driver's side door sensor switch 3 times
6. Verify that the doors lock and then unlock.
If nothing happens, wait 40 seconds and start from step 3 again
7. Press any button on any transmitter twice
8. Verify that the doors lock and then unlock
If nothing happens, see note A
9. If you have only 1 remote, press any button on that remote twice.
If you have 2 or 3 remotes, press any button on any of the other remotes twice.
10. Verify that the doors lock and then unlock
If nothing happens, see note A
11. If you have 1 or 2 remotes, press any button on either remote twice.
If you have 3 remotes, press any button on the 3rd remote twice.
12. Verify that the doors lock and then unlock
If nothing happens, see note A
13. The codes should now be reprogrammed
Note A:
1. Hold down the driver's side door sensor switch
2. Verify that the doors lock and unlock twice
3. Start from step 3 again
you should go nack to the dealer and get the rest of your keys/remotes and owners manual. if they cant get it from the previous owner, they need to provide you with one.

But one of the Black top keys doen't get the A/C to work, like a Super backup key.

if you have the LED, you have the alarm, its never on because the only way to arm the alarm is with the Lock button on the remote. Using the lock button on the doors won't arm the alarm, so if you want that alarm to work you're gonna have to get a remote.
