O.K heres my dilema. I picked up my mp5 2 weeks ago and I love it. When I got home I decided to take off the vinyl pin-stripes that were on it. To my surprise I found out the vinyl was covering painted stripes on the rear doors and rear panels. Now my solution is to either repaint or cover up with another vinyl graphic. I'm gonna go with the cover up as it costs much less. So now to the questions. Where to get them is one question? or does anyone have or want to create any grapics that would cover my problem? I included a pic so you can see where the stripes are now. Thanks in advance.

One thing to consider is whether the ping stripe has been cleared over. If it was dealer installed, it will probably not be. If that is the case, look at taking a very mild polish to remove. Go slow and do a small spot at a time.

Personally I think that any vinyl on car bodies is cheesy and rice oriented.

Good luck,

The fact you do not have painted pin striping on the front panels of the car makes me think it was possibly wrecked and repainted. Have you done a Carfax on it, or taken it to a shop to see if there is any major problems? Also, you are aware that you only have 1/2 of the roof rack, right? You are missing the back of it.

As far as the striping, if hand polishing does not work, an auto detailer may also be able to remove the pin striping with a high speed buffer and high grade polish.

You are correct the front end has had some damage in the past and has been fixed. A carfax did not show it though. I also obviosly know there is only half the rck there I need to get the inserts for the front to remove it. The body shop I use does not think using a polish to remove it will not work very well but I'll ask again. Any other ideas?

I would look at what cost it would be to have it re-sprayed, then consider getting some vinyl graphics, or even someone put new paint pinstriping on to cover it.

Why respray first if I can come up with a way to cover them? If I get it painted I will not put anything on the car.

I was thinking more in the lines of how much to respray it, compared to just putting on some graphics. I think the cheapest way would be to put some sort of graphics. That is what I meant.

Just the pad man (scroll down). It hooks up to any drill and will work on any RPM. Makes for taking off side panel trim on MP5's a 30 minute job.

Will this take off painted stripes?
