Our car just turned two today. On the way home, we clicked off 30k in the car!!

So far I have:

--Replaced the tires with Kuhmo ASX's---great tire so far. Those Dunlops are horrible! Bridgestone Blizzaks for the winter on cool steelies.
--Had the car aligned 3 times. Seems like a lot for 30k, but what do I know?
--Flushed coolant last weekend
--Replaced plugs--last weekend
--Cleaned PCV valve
--Had transmission flushed--last weekend. Wow, did this make a difference. I never noticed how hard it was shifting until it was completely flushed. It shifts as smooth as our new Accord. It's great.
--Air filter--last weekend
--Mobil 1 since day one with OEM filter---every 5k.
--Valvoline synthetic fuel injector cleaner every 5k.
--Zaino polish about once a month. No kidding. Two slight chips on the front bumper. I'm convinced the Zaino kept me from having more as we drive the car on the highway 99% of the time.
--1 rock chip on the windshield. Sealed and no longer a worry---I hope.
--Mazdaspeed exhaust---nice piece
--Acrylic front bug guard and sunroof wind deflector (this was a waste).
--Window tint---35% all around.

Overall? The car is great. I wish it had 50 more horsepower and 100lbs more sound deadening material. I also wish that the ground effects hadn't rubbed the paint down in the rear wheel well. It's to the point that I had to touch it up. The dealer tried and f-d it up more. I'm anal though. Also, there's some VERY small bubbling on the leading edge of the rear fender lip---inside the wheel well. If that ever pops open to reveal rust, the dealer is going to paint the entire fender, not just touch it in. D-heads!

Finally, I can tell it's loosening up. It rattles a bit more over bumps. Not a big deal, but clearly not as tight as our 2004 Honda Accord EX V6. That's a deathly quiet and FAST car!

I give the car an 8 out of 10.

Zoom-Zoom!!

How about some feedback on the problems you've had with your cars? I'm really instered in hearing more from those with at least 50k.

Thanks!

Bought mine with 38k(not 50k tho, :D ). Few scratches and chips, nothing major...rear driver fender had a bend out in the lip? pounded it back in real careful with a rubber mallet, not perfect, but you can't tell unless you know it's there. Also some scratches around ignition, normal, I guess.

Don't have a reference point to new, but mine is pretty quiet, Engine runs strong, whoever had it took care of it. Only one faint metallic rattle sound in dashboard gauge cluster area, but not noticable except over big bumps. (uhm)

You're right, about 50 or 70 more hp, man this car would be freegin' sweet, but, oh well, I can do that if I really want to.

Thanks for listening...I'm out (outie)

44k miles here. i just put on 3k this last month alone. i celebrated by curbing one of my rims 2 weeks before moving out of my current apartment where i don't have to parallel park anymore. other than that, it's been fantastic. i just picked up a used mazdaspeed axle back, i'm waiting on installing my eibach's and tokico's and having some rims powdercoated.

I'm closing in on 100k miles. The sunroof got stuck at about 45k miles. Lately, the driver's side seatbeat occassionally unlatches itself.

I recently replaced the rear brake pads and the fuel economy went up 2-3 mpg. There was a TSB on this, but it came out after I complained about the low gas mileage and the feeling of something dragging. At the time of my complaint, I was told it was normal.

i have 26k on mine.

Got it in August 2002. it's a 2002.5 ESSA.

So far all i've done is the normal services and oil changes, and now it's got new kumho's all around. Those dunlops were crap, i can't believe how much better the car rides with thinner sidewalls, and these tires GRIP. Doesn't sound like i'm driving on basketballs anymore either :D

Never had to do brakes, or much else (but that's drawing near), car's been perfect so far. The moonroof makes some squiggling noises, but i'll use some silicon lube on that.

other than that, been the typical well engineered little japanese car. I just did the ghetto stock intake mod and noticed a LOT of difference. Couldn't believe how bad Mazda choked off the engine. I actually hit redline the day i modded it on accident.

Just waiting on that magnaflow cat back now.............

28,000 miles on my 03, purchased in March of 03.

still on stock rubber (no winter tires either), rotated at 15K
no alignments (I prefer dodging pot holes with my cat like reflexes)
Oil changes every 4,000mi (got another tomorrow)
15,000mi checkup done at 16,000 miles (to coincide with my 4K oil changes)
35% tint, aftermarket stereo half finished

Planning on new tires @ 30K (before the winter) and another checkup at 32K and new brake pads somewhere in between.
