Oil level weirdness [Archive]

Changed oil few days ago and for some reason had number 3.9 stuck in my head, instead of 3.7 quarts listed in manual.
So, I overfilled it "slightly". Last night, I drained some oil out.. maybe about a pint. Dipstick STILL reads about 1/4" above full! WTF?
Think I should drain more oil out or is the dipstick just completely impossible to read correctly?
P.S. (I read it with engine off, after driving the car and letting it sit with engine off for 5 minutes or so).

the best way to read oil is get the dipstick out, wipe it off FIRST. then stick it back in without engine running, wait 10 seconds, then pull it out. bingo. try that.

That's exactly what I do! It just seems that this dipstick is extra sucky to read. Unless I do actually have too much oil in there still, which makes no sense, volume-wise.
Guess I have to drain some more of it off :(
