I don't know if any of you who have cold air intakes have had close calls with water but yesterday with the flooding in new jersey i nearly shit a brick driving down I-295. Nothing happened but going through a partially flooded highway was nerve-racking to say the least. (confused) (nervous)

yeah, i saw that on the news. fucking crazy! one foot of rain over 24hrs or something insane like that?
i feel bad for all the people having to deal with incliment weather this year. between all the flooding all over the place, and some of the forest fires that are going on, we're borderline apocalypse it seems. we had some major flooding here in michigan, and i did my best to avoid all of that.

Two weekends ago I actually had to get out of the car, pop the hood, disconnect the intake at the MAF, and drive through an OCEAN, then put it back on once forded... All while it's still raining. The other guy in my car is not a car guy, just a drinkin buddy; he was like "what in the holy fucktards are you doing???"

Thats a good idea. i never would have thought to disconnect it there. even though you wouldnt have the filter on i guess for such a short distance it'd be fine. i keep allen wrenches in my car just in case i ever do have a prob with my intake.

don't risk doing that to your car. hydrolock= new motor.

believe me i fear hydrolock. but if the water was deep enough to submerge my whole fender id have no choice but to disconnect it under the hood....given the circumstance in which i couldn't turn around and go the other way.
